Newson®GaleLeading the way in hazardous area static controlMobile Grounding &Bonding Solutions®Earth-Rite MGVMobile Ground Verification System®The Earth-RiteMobile Ground Verification system (MGV) isa unique, patented technology designed to provide automaticconfirmation of a positive electrostatic ground connection fortrucks collecting and transferring flammable / combustibleproducts.Vacuum trucks and tank trucks, including their hoses and hoseconnections, are susceptible to static charge accumulationduring the transfer of product into or out of the truck’scontainment system. This accumulation of static charge isequivalent to a hidden source of ignition and if discharged as astatic spark can lead to the ignition of the product or theatmosphere in which the truck and material handling team isoperating. To eliminate the risk of incendive static spark discharges the APIstandard 2219: Safe Operation of Vacuum Trucks inPetroleum Service recommends that vacuum truck operatorstransferring flammable and combustible product in hazardouslocations must fully ground the truck prior to any other task in thetransfer operation by connecting the truck to a “proven groundsource”. The Earth-Rite MGV is designed to enable operatorsestablish safe grounding of their vehicle in accordance with thisstandard. The Earth-Rite MGV static grounding systemcan be mounted on vacuum trucks and tank trucks.Typical Grounding Applications:Cleaning & material recovery operations for on-sitecleaning of storage tanks and chemical spills.Transporting chemicals to various stages ofproduction on chemical manufacturing sites.Transporting flammable product to external siteswhere installed grounding systems are not present or havenot been verified by the supplier.Hazmat Recovery operations recovering flammablespillages following transportation and loss of containmentincidents. The Earth-Rite MGV static grounding system enablesoperators demonstrate compliance with the API 2219 standard.IECExSIL 2Newson Gale | For over 25 years Newson Gale has been supplying the chemical and processing industry worldwide with its market leadingrange of static control products ensuring people and plant are protected from static related fires and explosions.www.newson-gale.comTurn Over

®Earth-Rite MGV® ®Earth-Rite is a registered Trademark of Newson GaleThe Earth-Rite MGV system performs two system checks whichensures the vehicle can dissipate static charges for the durationof the transfer process.1. Static Ground Verification:The MGV system ensures the connection resistance of the object thatis identified as the ground source to ground, is low enough to safelydissipate static charges from the truck.2. Continuous Ground Loop Monitoring:When the Static Ground Verification process is confirmed, the MGVsystem continuously monitors the connection resistance of the truckto this verified ground point for the duration of the transfer process. This connection resistance must be maintained at 10 ohms (or less)for the duration of the transfer process.Static Ground Verification checkTwo output contacts located in the control unit of the MGV systemcan interlock with pumps or other control devices to prevent transferoperations should a static ground connection fail to be established ormaintained for the transfer process.Easy and quick Operation:Removing the need for taking manual resistance readings orinteracting with complex system interfaces the operator activates thesystem by simply connecting the system’s grounding clamp to a sitedesignated grounding point, buried metal structure (pipes, storagetanks) or temporary points like buried grounding rods. When the Static Ground Verification and Continuous Ground LoopMonitoring checks are confirmed, a cluster of attention grabbinggreen LEDs pulse continuously informing the operator that the truck issecurely grounded.Continuous Ground Loop Monitoring checkSystem Installation:The MGV system is powered by the vehicle's primary 24V or12V battery supply with the control unit mounted on the truckchassis. The system can be interlocked with the on-board pump, vehicle mounted strobe lights or audible alarms to providematerial handlers with additional levels of security.CertificationIECEx SIL 2Ingress ProtectionIP66 / NEMA 4, 4X, 7Certified Temperature Rangeoo-13 F to +122 F - cCSAusoo-40 C to +55 C - ATEX/IECExQuick release static grounding clampsupplied with the Earth-Rite MGV attached to buried rod.Power Supply12V or 24V DCThe Earth-Rite MGV forms part of the Earth-Rite range ofStatic Grounding and Bonding Equipment available from Newson GaleNG US MGV 060312 R2Newson®GaleLeading the way in hazardous area static controlwww.newson-gale.comNewson Gale Inc460 Faraday AvenueUnit B, Suite 1Jackson, NJ 08527USATel: +1 732 961 7610Fax: +1 732 791 2182Email: groundit@newson-gale.comNewson Gale GmbHRuhrallee 18545136 EssenDeutschlandTel: +49 (0)201 89 45 245Fax: +49 (0)201 42 60 026Email: erdung@newson-gale.deNewson Gale LtdOmega HousePrivate Road 8Colwick, NottinghamNG4 2JX, UKTel: +44 (0)115 940 7500Fax: +44 (0)115 940 7501Email: groundit@newson-gale.co.uk
