<strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2006</strong>Design contracts have been awarded for the Moorefield Readiness Center, Logan/MingoReadiness Center, and for an expansion to the Robert C. Byrd Regional Training Institute toaccommodate the Joint InteragencyTraining Center (JITC) located atCamp Dawson. A new ModifiedRecord Fire Range to be located atCamp Dawson's Briery MountainTraining Area is also under design andscheduled for construction contractaward late in 2007.In 2007, C&FMO plans to awardconstruction contracts to rehabilitateCamp Dawson's lower range complexand for expansion of the GassawayArmory to increase administrativespace for the State's new 151st Military Police Battalion. Design contracts will be awarded forarmed forces reserve centers at Morgantown and Ripley and property will be acquired inElkins, Fairmont, and Logan/Mingo Counties.Projects in short-range planning include a new readiness center in Martinsburg; a UnitedStates Property and Fiscal Office, Field Maintenance Shop and Readiness Center Complex inBuckhannon; and theBase Realignment andClosure Commission's(BRAC) directed armedforces reserve centersin Fairmont, Elkins, andRipley. Design fundsand constructionprojects continue to beprogrammed in futureyears according to"Facilities XXI" withinteragency opportunitiesfor partnering andstate savings a cornerstonefor the future.C&FMO has more than$400 million in longrange projects to ensurethat the soldiers of the <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>Army</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> have state of the art facilities tosupport growth into the 21st century, improve infrastructure in our local communities, and serveas the foundation for future readiness.55
