<strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2006</strong>151 st Military Police Battalion (HHD)The Battalion Headquarters relocated to Dunbar from the former location at the ArmedForces Reserve Center at the South Ridge Complex. The 1863rd Provisional Military PoliceCompany deactivated, and the 863rd Military Police Company was formed at the Glen JeanComplex near Oak Hill with Detachment 1, 863rdMilitary Police Company locating in Gassaway.The Battalion provides command and control forthe 154th Military Police Company in Moundsville;Detachment 1, 154th Military Police Company inSalem; 156th Military Police Detachment (Law andOrder) in Monaville; 157th Military Police Company(Combat Support) in Martinsburg; and Detachment 1,157th Military Police Company in Moorefield.Battalion soldiers continue to support the GlobalWar on Terrorism. Service members from the 1863dProvisional Military Police Company returned midyearfrom deployments at Fort Bragg, NC and Fort Polk, LA. These soldiers served withdistinction, side by side with their active duty counterparts, providing law & order operations atboth locations.In the Fall, <strong>2006</strong>, Battalion soldiers deployed again for law and order operations at FortBragg, NC. These soldiers will return in late 2007 or early 2008 from this mission. The leadershipof the unit <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> soldiers are supporting at FortBragg, the 65th Military Police Company (Airborne), spokehighly of 1863rd soldiers and was happy to learn that <strong>West</strong><strong>Virginia</strong> soldiers would be returning for this rotational mission.Battalion soldiers are also supporting OperationJump Start in New Mexico, which began in July <strong>2006</strong>. Soldierswill assist with security along the U.S.-Mexico borderuntil mid-2007.In addition to involvement at the national level, 151stMP soldiers continue to be actively involved in communitieshere in <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong>. 151st MP units participated in numerouscommunity events across the state providing support tothe citizens of <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong>.151st MP soldiers also executed an aggressiverecruiting program to improve strength and support plannedforce structure increases. In <strong>2006</strong>, Battalion manning reached 115% of authorized levels. TheBattalion goal is 125% of authorized manpower levels, making recruiting the top priority.The highlight of the year was training conducted at Camp Dawson in June <strong>2006</strong>. TheBattalion executed an aggressive training plan that focused on improving warfighting skills.The training period also provided valuable collective training for units and the battalion staff.“Of the Troops, For the Troops”48
