<strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2006</strong>Charlie Company B-Team waslocated near historical Babylon where2/19th soldiers conducted anti-terroristoperations in Southern Iraq. Unitmembers spread operational teamsthroughout the region. Teams wereresponsible for advising and traininglocal special weapons and tactics(SWAT) units, Iraqi Special ForcesUnits, and Iraqi <strong>Army</strong> Units.The 2/19th was involved in over400 combat operations during itsrotation in Iraq. Highlights include theonly assault involving multiple rooftophelicopter landings; takedown ofmultiple high value targets including top leaders of the Al-Qaeda terrorist network; rescues ofmultiple hostages; and intelligencegathering missions uncoveringhidden terrorist organizations inseemingly peaceful areas of Iraq.The Battalion suffered thetragic loss of Sergeant 1st ClassDaniel Crabtree of Bravo Companyduring military operations in Iraq.Soldiers of the 2/19th SFGbegan returning to the U.S. inAugust, <strong>2006</strong>.DE OPPRESSO LIBER!!47
