<strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2006</strong>J4 - LogisticsThe mission of the Directorate of Logistics is to assist organizational commanders inenhancing readiness and warfighting capability through a systematic process of propertyaccountability, enhancement of the command supply discipline program, development ofsound maintenance management policies andpractices, movement planning, and maintenanceof a quality food service program. Thesection provides logistical education, technicalassistance and regulatory oversight to units tohelp them meet their federal and state missions.<strong>2006</strong> AccomplishmentsMajor accomplishments achieved by theLogistics branch this year were successfuldeployment of the 150th Aviation; support to theSouthwest Border mission; re-set operationswith the 1257th Transportation Company andthe 2/19th Special Forces Group; and executing aggressive education for supply sergeantsand supply teams preparation for federal, state or regional response emergencies.Command Supply Discipline Program (CSDP)The updated CSDP checklist was expanded to include reviews of the governmentpurchase credit card, property book unit supply enhancements, and unit level logistics systemsupplyprocedures. Logistics personnel continued to develop and update the policies andprocedures required of each commander within the <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>Army</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> in themanagement of personal clothing, organizational clothing and unit property equipment. Theobjective of this policy is to reduce losses of equipment.TrainingTraining objectives throughout the year concentrated around the growth and sustainmentof the logistics community. Logistical training was emphasized through battalion sizedelements. Several supply training workshops were conducted to facilitate leader developmentand intuitive decision-making and development of organizations and teams. Goals were metthrough enhancement of operational and institutional knowledge of <strong>Army</strong> supply systems.Logistical CommunicationsUnits prepared for the transition of communication equipment, which included VerySmall Aperture Terminal (VSAT), Battle Command Support Systems ( BCS3), Radio FrequencyIdentifier Tags (RFI) and TC-AIMSII (Transportation Coordinators Automated Informationfor Movement Systems). Enhanced communications allowed piping extended capabilitieson a wide scale system through the right tools and right mix of logisitical communication resourcesrequired to train and execute missions.32
