<strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2006</strong>Parking Apron and Hydrant LoopConcrete paving on the apron is 80 percent complete. The taxiway portion is inprogress with sub-base and drainage layer being installed. Sixteen of 26 lanes have beencompleted. Twenty-four hour construction, five to six days a week is being conducted on theapron project until the concrete is complete.Flight SimulatorPre-final inspection stage. Punch list items are being completed. This is a 12,000square foot structure that will house a C-5 aircraft computer simulator.Corrosion Control HangarCaissons are completed and grade beam installation is in progress. Structural steelwork is scheduled to begin in late <strong>2006</strong>. Base engineers have reviewed the 100 percentdesign for the building enclosure and forwarded comments to the Contracting Officer forincorporation into the design documents. This hangar will be an 80,700 square foot facilitycapable of fully enclosing C-5 aircraftto allow for washing, spot paintingand airframe repairs. The project willinclude functional shop space andadministrative areas that are directlyrelated to corrosion prevention andmetal repair, and shall consist of areinforced concrete foundation, floorslab, steel framed masonry walls,sloped metal standing seam roof,interior walls, high expansion foamfire protection system, exterior andinterior utilities, access pavements,site improvements communications,heating and air conditioning. Thefacility will meet Department of Defense antiterrorism standards.Jet Fuel StorageProject has been awarded and the notice to proceed on the project was scheduled forissue in late December. This project consists of above ground jet fuel storage tanks along witha high volume fuel pumping station, administrative building, and covered truck refueler parking.Construction will meet all applicable Environmental Protection Agency regulations.25
