After thecenter was rebuilt, Baldwin rebuilt anesthesia services byorganizing a team of seven anesthesiologists and 10 certifiedregistered nurse anesthetists.His next project was to lead an $89 million restoration ofTulane Medical Center’s hospital, including reopening itspharmacy, cafeteria and central sterile and operating rooms.The hospital was operational just one year after thestorm.“I’ve always been in health care,” said Baldwin, <strong>who</strong>earned a master’s degree in health administration fromTulane University. “I started in a clinical EMS role, and Idecided to go into management. Health care is one of theprofessions in which you receive immediate gratification.”Baldwin began his career at Tulane Medical Centernine years ago as an administrative resident. He thenmoved into various managerial positions before becomingdirector of the Tulane Cancer Center.After serving as associate vice president of operations,he became vice president of operations. In both positions,he has directed the operations of physician clinics, clinicaland non-clinical departments and service lines.
