To realize this performance, thetemperature compensation of the crystal characteristic needs to be more accurate.Originally this type of TCXO used a 5th order function of temperature compensation ICwhich is more accurate, to achieve “±0.5ppm” performance. TBW SeriesMilitary Fused Tantalum CapacitorSolid tantalum capacitors are very reliable and can accommodate a large variety ofenvironmental conditions. Because of this high reliability, tantalums are seeing increased usage inmore harsh applications. Many of these environmental conditions may cause the capacitor to fail(short) and not allow the capacitor to take advantage of the inherent self healing mechanism. As asafety factor in these applications, <strong>AVX</strong> has developed a new fused tantalum capacitor. Thestandard fused tantalum on the market today from other manufacturers uses a bi-metallic fusewire. The single wire fuse limits flexibility in design and can increase the Equivalent SeriesResistance (ESR) of the complete package. The <strong>AVX</strong> (TBW) fused capacitor takes advantage of the<strong>AVX</strong> thin film fuse technology. By replacing the bi-metallic fuse wire with a thin film fuse, the userhas the ability to specify the fusing characteristics as well as take advantage of a lower overall ESR.This fused design allows for capacitors to be Weibull graded per Mil-PRF-55365 as well as surgecurrent tested. 9175 SeriesWire to Board Strip IDC ConnectorThe 9175 series from <strong>AVX</strong> offers customers the ability of connecting individual wires to asingle row of contacts using IDC technology.Available as a 2 or 3 pin connector it is both low profile and has a small PCB footprint. Theconnector is SMT assembled to the PCB prior to assembly of the wire.Using a small application tool, the wires are then inserted into the contact slot. This processcuts the insulation and enables the individual conductors of the wire to form a homogeneousjoint. The shape of the molding also forms a restraint to the wire when fully inserted in thecontact. These connectors are supplied in tape and reel for easy pick and place.
