This is why Matthew says,“All this took place to fulfill what theLord had said through the prophet,”when he tells of the unique circumstancesof Jesus’ birth. Matthewwanted to show others of the Jewishfaith that Jesus had fulfilled thisunique condition that had beenprophesied regarding the birth ofthe expected Messiah.
