Commissioned Sculptures <strong>at</strong>The <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Center</strong> <strong>at</strong> Str<strong>at</strong>hmoreLoc<strong>at</strong>ed on <strong>the</strong> Bou Family Terrace, TetraCon Brio, a monumental sculpture <strong>of</strong> castbronze, steel <strong>and</strong> polished concrete, st<strong>and</strong>s12 feet tall <strong>and</strong> weighs 4,500 pounds.Cre<strong>at</strong>ed by California artist Roger Stoller,<strong>the</strong> commissioned work was generouslyunderwritten by Kenneth <strong>and</strong> Phillip O’Brienin memory <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir fa<strong>the</strong>r, Ben O’Brien,founder <strong>of</strong> <strong>Music</strong> & Arts <strong>Center</strong>s.Suspended above a three-level staircase<strong>and</strong> spanning 96 feet <strong>of</strong> open verticalspace by <strong>the</strong> Discovery Channel foyer,New York artist Meryl Taradash’s The<strong>Music</strong> <strong>of</strong> Light is composed <strong>of</strong> shapedacrylic prisms, curved polished aluminumarcs <strong>and</strong> reflected light. Offering world-class performing arts in a st<strong>at</strong>e-<strong>of</strong>-<strong>the</strong>-art facility, <strong>the</strong> opening marked adefining moment for arts <strong>and</strong> culture in <strong>the</strong> Washington, D.C. region. The woodwork displays <strong>the</strong>instruments used in <strong>the</strong> musical piece.
