<strong>ADVANCED</strong> <strong>NATIONAL</strong> <strong>GOALKEEPING</strong> <strong>DIPLOMA</strong><strong>Course</strong> Information SheetMacalester CollegeJune 3-9, 2013 – St. Paul, MN1. Check-In and Departure: All course participants, including commuters, should arrive on Monday, June3rd; in time to check-in between 2:00 and 5:00 pm. Check-in will be at Macalester College, Ruth StrickerDayton Campus Center (#25 on campus map). http://www.macalester.edu/about/maps/. Candidatesshould plan departure no earlier than 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 9th.3. Travel/Transportation: Candidates are responsible for their own transportation from the airport tothe hotel and for return transportation to the airport upon departure. Taxis are available fortransportation and fares average about $10 one-way. Macalester College is located approximately 6.71miles or 18 minutes from the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport.http://www.mapquest.com/mq/7-fnl5iucZ_Ie4X5JmOIQ0. You are responsible for providing your owntransportation throughout the course. Transportation will not be provided between the college andairport. There is no shuttle to/from the airport. Once you are on-site everything is walking distance.4. Fees: <strong>Course</strong> fees for the residential coaching academies are $1,200 for NSCAA members and $1,285for non-members. The non-member fee includes an NSCAA membership. You must be a member priorto registering for the course or you will be billed as a non-member. Fees include six (6) nights lodging(double occupancy), meals, course materials and instruction. Commuter fees are $1,000 for membersand $1,085 for non-members. A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $200 is required at thetime of application. The balance is due no later than Friday, May 3, 2013. All checks should be madepayable to NSCAA Coaching Academy. For credit card payments, please call the National Office at 913-362-1747.5. Lodging: Candidates who choose resident on their application form will stay on campus in campushousing. Rooms will be reserved for all candidates, prior to the course, by the NSCAA based on doubleoccupancy. Requests for roommates will be honored, if possible, but must be requested no later thanMay 3, 2013. Candidates requesting single occupancy will be charged an additional $300 by the NSCAA.The NSCAA Academy fee covers the cost of six nights lodging (June 3-9). Candidates arriving prior toJune 3rd and departing after June 9th are responsible for the cost of additional nights lodging at thehotel.6. Meals: Candidates are provided 16 meals as a part of the registration fee, including six (6) breakfasts,five (5) lunches and five (5) dinners. Meal service begins with breakfast on Tuesday, June 4 th and endswith breakfast on Sunday, June 9th. Food-service hours and locations for the academy will beannounced at the first academy meeting on Monday evening (June 3rd). Cost of any additional meals, enroute to and from Macalester, is the responsibility of each candidate.


7. First Meeting: The first meeting for all candidates will be at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3rd in theOlin-Rice Science Center. General course orientation and procedures will be covered and all candidateswill be provided with the schedule of the week's activities (if any changes have been made).8. What to Bring: June weather in Minneapolis is usually mild. We recommend being prepared for rainand strongly suggest sunscreen and caps. Among other personal items, you should bring a polo/golfshirt, water bottle, shin guards, a notebook with paper, pens and pencils, practice gear, training suit,rain suit, soccer shoes and flats.9. <strong>Course</strong> Preparation: The NSCAA and Soccer Learning Systems have produced several DVD’sfor candidates wishing to prepare for the courses. We have recently released a series of 3Goalkeeping DVD’s – “Soccer Goalkeeper Training Set.” All DVD’s can be purchased from SoccerLearning Systems using the following website: www.soccervideos.com.10. Physical Preparation: The NSCAA Coaching Academy is a highly intensive week of instructiondedicated to fulfilling the NSCAA mission of education. Candidates should be in good shape andready for an enjoyable week of enhancing their soccer knowledge. The NSCAA Academy does notdiscriminate based on any physical limitations to perform. Candidates that have any disabilities orhealth concerns, which might limit their participation in academy activities, should notify a staffmember early in the week. You will find the academy staff very dedicated and ready to help you.11. Safety: The NSCAA reminds coaches that they must have their own insurance coverage. NSCAAwill not be responsible for medical payment for injuries which occur as a result of participation inthe course. The NSCAA also reminds coaches to wear shin guards for practical sessions. Coachesparticipating in practical sessions without wearing shin guards do so at their own risk.12. Curriculum: All candidates will be given a course curriculum when you check-in on-site. Pleasemake sure you check-in between 2:00 and 5:00 pm on Monday, June 3rd.13. Grading and Diplomas: Testing for the Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma course isoutlined in the course manual and will be discussed at the first session. Final grading is based ontesting with oral, written and on-field evaluations. <strong>Course</strong> results and diplomas will be forwardedwithin six weeks after completion of the course. Candidates are advised that attendance ismandatory at all sessions to receive a passing grade. Coaches who miss any of the sessions will beawarded a Certificate of Participation.14. College Credit and CEU’s: An opportunity to receive three semester hours of college creditthrough the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs is available by completing the AdvancedNational Goalkeeping Diploma course. The cost of the college credit is $256.00. Information,including all procedures, application and forms is at the back of your course curriculum.
