ANNEX AProject 13 - 17:Project Manager:Participant/Liaison:Establishment of Renewable Resources Councils (RRCs)Designated <strong>Sahtu</strong> organizationRenewable Resources Board (Board)Obligations Addressed:13.9.1. There shall be a Renewable Resources Council in each <strong>Sahtu</strong> community to encourage <strong>and</strong>promote local involvement in conservation, harvesting studies, research <strong>and</strong> wildlifemanagement in <strong>the</strong> community.13.9.2 A Renewable Resources Council shall be established by <strong>the</strong> designated <strong>Sahtu</strong> organization in<strong>the</strong> community.13.9.3 A Renewable Resources Council shall be composed of not more than seven persons who areresidents of <strong>the</strong> community.ACTIVITIES RESPONSIBILITY TIMING GUIDELINES(in sequence)1. They were developed <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> purpose of estimating <strong>the</strong> funding to be provided to <strong>the</strong>RRCs. It is not intended that <strong>the</strong> RRCs shall be constrained to any particular expenditure line item.<strong>Plan</strong>ning Assumptions:- The powers of <strong>the</strong> RRCs are outlined in <strong>the</strong> agreement.- Should <strong>the</strong> role of <strong>the</strong> local Hunters' <strong>and</strong> Trappers' Association be taken over by a RRC, <strong>the</strong>Government of <strong>the</strong> Northwest Territories will provide <strong>the</strong> funding that would have gone to <strong>the</strong> localHunters' <strong>and</strong> Trappers' Association to that RRC.SAHTU IMPLEMENTATION PLAN 69
