ANNEX AProject 13 - 11:Project Manager:Participant/Liaison:Existing commercial harvesting rights in waters overlying <strong>Sahtu</strong> l<strong>and</strong>sDepartment of Fisheries <strong>and</strong> Oceans (DFO)Existing licence holderObligations Addressed:13.7.3 (b) Government may not issue a licence <strong>for</strong> a fishery in waters overlying <strong>Sahtu</strong> l<strong>and</strong>s to aperson who is not a participant except in <strong>the</strong> case of a person who:(i) held a licence which was valid at <strong>the</strong> date of settlement legislation <strong>for</strong> a fishery inwaters overlying <strong>Sahtu</strong> l<strong>and</strong>s; <strong>and</strong>(ii) applies to renew <strong>and</strong> is issued such licence within <strong>the</strong> April 1 to March 31 period inwhich <strong>the</strong> date of settlement legislation occurs <strong>and</strong> in every April 1 to March 31 period<strong>the</strong>reafter.Referenced Clauses: 13.7.3(a)ACTIVITIES RESPONSIBILITY TIMING GUIDELINES(in sequence)1. When l<strong>and</strong> withdrawals take place no new DFO after l<strong>and</strong> withdrawalscommercial fishing licences will be issuedgiving permission to fish in waters overlying<strong>Sahtu</strong> l<strong>and</strong>s, but licences will continue to beissued to any applicant who had a licence in<strong>the</strong> area during at least one of <strong>the</strong> twoprevious fishing seasons2.
