ANNEX AProject 26 - 8:Project Manager:Participant/Liaison:Preferential hiring of <strong>Sahtu</strong> <strong>Dene</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Metis</strong>Canada, Government of <strong>the</strong> Northwest Territories (GNWT)<strong>Sahtu</strong> Tribal Council (STC)Obligations Addressed:26.2.8 The <strong>Sahtu</strong> <strong>Dene</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Metis</strong> shall have preference in being hired at public sites, museums,heritage resource projects, archaeological works <strong>and</strong> similar public facilities <strong>and</strong> projects in <strong>the</strong>settlement area related to <strong>Sahtu</strong> heritage resources, in a manner to be set out in <strong>the</strong> protectedarea agreement or, where <strong>the</strong>re is no protected area agreement, in <strong>the</strong> management or workplans <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> public sites, museums, projects, facilities <strong>and</strong> works referred to in this chapter. The<strong>Sahtu</strong> Tribal Council shall be consulted in <strong>the</strong> development of plans.Referenced Clauses: chapters 12 <strong>and</strong> 17ACTIVITIES RESPONSIBILITY TIMING GUIDELINES(in sequence)1. When a public site, museum, heritage government after settlementresource project, archaeological work orlegislationsimilar public facility or project in <strong>the</strong> settlementarea related to <strong>Sahtu</strong> heritage resources whichis not subject to a protected area agreement isinitiated, notify <strong>the</strong> STC during <strong>the</strong> developmentof management or work plans advising on <strong>the</strong>nature <strong>and</strong> extent of <strong>the</strong> preferential hiringprovisions proposed; provide <strong>the</strong> STC with areasonable period of time to prepare its viewson <strong>the</strong> matter; <strong>and</strong> provide <strong>the</strong> STC with anopportunity to present its views.2. Review proposal <strong>and</strong> present views to STC within period providedgovernment3. Give full <strong>and</strong> fair consideration to <strong>the</strong> views governmentpresented4.
