They were developed <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> purpose of estimating <strong>the</strong> funding to be provided to<strong>the</strong> L<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Water Board. It is not intended that <strong>the</strong> L<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Water Board shall be constrained toany particular expenditure line item.- As regards <strong>the</strong> Government of <strong>the</strong> Northwest Territories, refer to summary <strong>for</strong> IAA (Project 29-2).- When <strong>the</strong> L<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Water Board receives notice that a hearing is required to resolve a matter withinits jurisdiction, <strong>the</strong> L<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Water Board will advise <strong>the</strong> Minister that a hearing will be held <strong>and</strong>submit a budget <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Minister's review <strong>and</strong> approval. The budget may be accepted in its entirety orin an amended <strong>for</strong>m as deemed by <strong>the</strong> Minister to be appropriate.- In order that <strong>the</strong> L<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Water Board may conduct <strong>the</strong> hearings within any timeframe that may bespecified in <strong>the</strong> agreement <strong>and</strong>/or in legislation, it will be <strong>the</strong> responsibility of <strong>the</strong> L<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> WaterBoard to notify <strong>the</strong> Minister promptly of <strong>the</strong> hearing <strong>and</strong> to provide <strong>the</strong> required budget proposals in atimely fashion. The Minister shall provide <strong>the</strong> L<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Water Board with a response to <strong>the</strong> budgetproposal in sufficient time to allow <strong>the</strong> L<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Water Board to hold proceedings within <strong>the</strong>timeframe specified in <strong>the</strong> agreement <strong>and</strong>/or legislation.SAHTU IMPLEMENTATION PLAN 148
