ANNEX A- The Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act being developed by <strong>the</strong> Coordinating Group willfulfill <strong>the</strong> obligations of Chapter 25 of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahtu</strong> <strong>Dene</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Metis</strong> agreement, including section 25.2.There<strong>for</strong>e, with <strong>the</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>ning Board <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahtu</strong> settlement area established pursuant to <strong>the</strong>proposed Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act, it will be possible to establish <strong>the</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>ningBoard at an earlier date than under separate legislation.- It is assumed that <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahtu</strong> <strong>Dene</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Metis</strong> agreement <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> accompanying <strong>Implementation</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>will be ratified <strong>and</strong> signed prior to <strong>the</strong> expiry of <strong>the</strong> m<strong>and</strong>ate of <strong>the</strong> Coordinating Group. If this doesnot occur it is agreed that activity I will be amended as required.- The primary responsibility of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>ning Board will be managing <strong>the</strong> L<strong>and</strong> Use <strong>Plan</strong>. It will beresponsible to insure that all l<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> water use authorizations are in compliance with <strong>the</strong> plan.- The <strong>Plan</strong>ning Board will consist of 4 members plus a chairperson.SAHTU IMPLEMENTATION PLAN 141
