Hi Klaxon readers,It’s great that we can get together again to enjoy our monthly literaryconfabulation. A bit of fact, a bit of fiction, and what air brushing? etc etc.Last month, the goodie goodie gum drops Good Fellas Hot Rod Clubheld their annual rod run to Yanchep and it was a ripper. Read more andsee a few photos of the event later in this edition. The club also had its annual Chickenathon Christmas Party. Due tothe world’s apparent financial recession, the amount of chicken has beenreduced and replaced with prawns and prime quality steak. Check out thewhole event in this Klaxon. The Pranksters Wanksters Cranksters Rod & Custom Club had theirannual Show and Shine affair at Alan Smart’s Armadale Auto Parts .Don’t go cruising through Armadale to try and find them, like I once did...They are in Kelmscott!Klaxon in PDF format.... Now that the Willys is out there, I amfinding time to set up the Klaxon on the WWW fishing line. The Klaxon is sent to the printers in full colour. Only the cost of colourproduction keeps the finished hard copy product in nostalgic black andwhite. The PDF computer version is a very colourful presentation. The PDF format (don’t worry what that means) allows the Klaxon to besent in a generally non editable format in emails, or viewable or downloadablefrom a web site. It can be read by all PCs with free software anda reasonable internet connection. Once on the screen, in full colour, it canalso be magnified and printed in colour or B&W. Squeezing too manyphotos in the B5 print format Klaxon, means that a lot of photographicdetail (and colour) is lost. This can be overcome with the Klaxon on yourPC screen. See the real colours and zoom in for a good sticky beak at thedetails that interest you.Last month I put together the best member mailing list that I could andsent the Klaxon by email to all the addresses that I had.. In future I plan tohave the Klaxon on a web site, and only email a reminder and the URLlink to everyone,. This is due to the amount of data involved. So if you are

waiting for one more reason to go online or to hang around an internetcafe, then here it is!WCSRC also put a display of rods on Langley Park two weeks ago aspart of the festivities ahead of the annual RAC and Channel Seven ChristmasPageant. There is more detail in this edition.A month ago the Klaxon Finance manager dished out a few shekelsand upgraded the Klaxon Super Camera with more memory. That hasallowed the combined collection between BL1’s flat battery camera andmine to take a few more photos at rodding events. After another month ofmany rodding events, this edition is another mega feast of photos. It also isanother whopper version that upsets the Klaxon distribution staff at HunterDistribution. They are harder to folder and stuff into envelopes. As another year passes, the club can look back on a good year withseveral members getting hot rods on thestreet. To mind, there was my Willys ofcourse, after 12 years off the street (wheredid that time go), Joe Carbone’s Jailbar, and Mel Broun’s 39 Chev coupe.Frenchie’s 35 Chev was back on the roadafter its forced rebuild having been stolenand trashed last year. We had fresh faces onthe executive committee with Mel doing agood job as Secretary and Kevan Best(converted restorer) as Super President. We saw a few more of our rodding brethrenmove upstairs to the chrome gates in thesky. Sad, but all in the course of life. Here’shoping we can all continue with our hobbiesand families while in good health, abit longer. On that cheery note, have agreat Christmas and excellent new year.Take care.Extreme E.THE END!Continued....................Missing PersonCan anyone recognize or know thewhere abouts of this person? Lastseen at a club meeting in 1922. Hemay be locked up in a house and ona very short leash. Looks to be wellfed.

WCSRC Christmas Party 2008The annual Christmas Chickenathon party was held earlier than normalthis year to try and beat the Chrissy social traffic jam. Held on a Saturdaynight made it a relaxing show without the pressure of having to goto work the next day.The truth is, therewas some chickenavailable, but there wasalso prawns, primesteak and sausages aswell, for this years barbequeformat. The titleof “Chickenathon”emerged from the sameparty some years agonow, when a mountainof chicken from achook shop was themain course. He wasn’t the onlyone. This year for the first time, itwas a cook your own BBQ. Thesteak, chicken, snaggers andmushrooms were top quality. The five or six salads andmountain of prawns were likewise, not to mention the otherpre dinner snacks. Not surprisingly, most of thephotos were of Chevies, with a sprinkling of other marques amongst them. These circulated aroundthe tables during theevening for every one tohave a sticky beak at.The storm that was forecastfor the evening earlierin the day didn’teventuate, leaving it tobe a warm balmy eveningjust perfect for sucha gathering. Good Fella’s Yanchep RunSince the Fathers Dayshow on the first weekendin September, eventorganizers have beenblessed with perfect hotrodding weather for everyoutdoor event. The GoodFellas Hot Rod Club rodrun to Yanchep NationalPark was no different. The popular formatnow attracts 100 -200rods and classics eachyear. The starts at 10:00amwith every one gatheringfor an impromptu showand shine at the KingswayShopping Centre carpark, while official event entrytakes place.Between 10:30 and 11:00the collection of colourmeanders out onto themain drag and headsnorth towards Yanchep, atguess, about 20 milesTop to bottom: A few of the WCSRCrods present. Good Fella’s Yanchep Runaway. This year a less directroute was taken thatallowed for some pleasantcruising off the main road.On arrival at Yanchep, the vehicles were usherd tothe lush green park area behindthe inn and infront of thelagoon. Many many rodsparked in idyllic surroundings ona beautiful day. The next bestmove, if you didn’t bring your ownfood for lunch, was to head to theInn , claim a table and seats andorder one of their fabulous fairlypriced meals. After the meal, there was a couple hours to fillwith either sleeping, drinking, chatting, looking at the wildlife, walking or paddling before theGoodies had there monster raffle.A walk to the chocolate shop, just to test my self control andhave a coffee, is my option. Then a walk through the koalahabitat to check them out, on theway back to the inn.

Good Fella’s Yanchep RunThe monster raffle almosthas more prizesthan entrants thanksto the large number ofsupporting sponsors. It was almost oneeach, except somepeople in life are luckierthan others andsuch events rewardthe same people eachtime no matter howmany or few ticketsthey buy. The namesBarbara Gibb and JimCandido come floodingforth in this category, while me andme mates have notmastered the hiddenpowers of winning raffleticket attractionfrom the cosmos. I ama donator not a winner!Jimbo won firstprize, a bar fridge, then another two ofthe top ten prizes.Four of five ofBarbara’s 8 ticketspulled prizes. Fiddyalso got up to collectabout five prizes. Itwas amazing how

Good Fella’s Yanchep Runmany people wonthree or more prizes! The quality of theprizes was excellentfrom top to bottom. The end of theraffle draw at about3:30 is the end ofthe organized part of the day and people then head home at theirown leisure. This inevitably becomes lots of little rod runs withseveral cars bunched together down the main roads and freeway.Well doneby the Good Fellasagain. A good formatwell organised. West Coast’s Flags Flying High at Langley Park2008 RAC and Channel Seven Christmas PageantWest Coast displayed 8 rods for this year’s revamped Christmaspageant at Langley Park. Other clubs included the Austin Club,Valiant Car Club and Rambler Car Club. An early set-up at 7 a.m.meant an even earlier start with a prearranged meeting at the clubrooms (it wasn’t exactly roadster weather) before of some of Santa’shelpers descended on the park for a very casual display of cars tohelp celebrate the Christmas pageant. Frenchie’s daughter Rhondaand husband and Dave took the mini rod for their son Ryan toparticipate in the parade only to drop out when the motor stalled, maybe because of overheating. It was covered withnames and small American flags mounted on either side of it. Thesix-year old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastorwalked up, stood beside the little boy, and said quietly, 'Good morningAlex.''Good morning Pastor,' he replied, still focused on the plaque. 'Pastor, what is this? 'The pastor said, 'Well son, it's a memorial to all the young men andwomen who died in the service.'Soberly, they just stood together, staring at the large plaque. Finally, little Alex's voice, barely audible and trembling with fear asked,'Which service, the 8:30 or the 10:30?'
