Christmas Tree Water Fountain(CA100)The following instructions were provided by the manufacturer.Keeps tree fresh for weeks.Reduces risk of tree drying out…less fire hazard.Designed for quick refilling – no need to remove gifts when watering.Works well with all types of tree stands.Use with any 60 oz (2-litre) plastic soft-drink bottle (not included).Easy to check water supply at a glance.Sturdy and stable.1. Connect the plastic hose to thewaterer as shown in the diagram.Place unit 3 to 4 feet away fromstand (in a corner away fromtraffic) with the end of hoseinside pan. At least 10" of hoseshould lay flat inside on thebottom of pan and coiled aroundthe tree trunk. Tie hose to one ofthe legs of stand with twist-tieprovided to prevent hose frombeing pulled out. Be sure hose isnot pinched or flattened to insurewater's free flow.Cross-Section View of Waterer2. Remove label from a 60 oz (2-litre) plastic soft-drink bottle; fill with fresh water.Place 2 fingers over the bottle opening, turn upside down, and lower the bottle intothe waterer as far as possible. Quickly remove fingers and set bottle in base. Tostart the flow of water to the stand, raise waterer about 1' until air bubbles start risinginside the bottle. Set waterer down in place. It is now in full operation. You will noticeair bubbles rising inside bottle as the water is automatically fed to the stand.3. Depending on size and freshness of tree, you may need to refill once every 4 to 6days. Raise the unit as in step 2 after each refill to remove air in tubing to restartwater flow. The waterer fills the stand to a certain level (approx. 2" from floor) and stopsautomatically. As the tree absorbs the water, the system creates a "siphoning"action that refills the stand and maintains constant level of water at all times.

Caution: When using the waterer on stands with pans less than 3" deep, thestand must be elevated so that the rim of the pan is at least 3" from the floor. Onpans with bottoms more than 1" above the floor, elevate waterer to about thesame height as the bottom of pan. (To elevate unit, place on piece of board, books, etc.) Avoid kinks in hose for free flow.©Copyright 1998 to 2009 by Lee Valley Tools Ltd. and Veritas® Tools Inc.
