WARNING:DISCONNECT MAINS POWERPRIOR TO INSTALLATIONFITTING INSTRUCTIONSThe Select <strong>Ranger</strong> comes complete with a universalbracket which will allow you to fit it to single or twin<strong>switch</strong>es, also single or twin socket outlets(<strong>switch</strong>ed/un<strong>switch</strong>ed). N.B. The Select <strong>Ranger</strong>should only be fitted to flat surfaces.The Select <strong>Ranger</strong> can be fitted to the left or right ofthe <strong>switch</strong> or socket outlet. The Select <strong>Ranger</strong> is forFLUSH mounting only. Most domestic sockets and<strong>switch</strong>es are flush mounted.Supplied already assembled for attachment to theright hand side of the <strong>switch</strong>/socket, it is easilyconverted for left hand use.To convert the module: 11. Remove the two screwsin the backof the bracket.2. Remove the module2from the brackethousing.3. Turn bracket through180 degrees so that thelegs are pointing inthe opposite direction.4. Replace the moduleinto the bracket3housing, insertingthe two wires from themodule throughthe hole in thebracket housing.45. Replace the two retainingscrews through the backof the bracket housing intothe screw holes in themodule and tighten.IMPORTANTWhen fitting the Select <strong>Ranger</strong> to alight <strong>switch</strong> it should be protectedby an in-line fuse. However, as longas your premises are fitted witha fuse box or consumer unit,no additional fuse is required.5IMPORTANT - It is recommended that you programthe <strong>time</strong>r before attaching the module to the <strong>switch</strong>/socket.See programming instructions.A LIGHT SWITCHNot Suitable for 2 Way Switches*When connecting to a two gang <strong>switch</strong> (2 <strong>switch</strong>eson one plate) attach your Select <strong>Ranger</strong> to one<strong>switch</strong> only.1. After <strong>switch</strong>ing off the mains, remove the twoscrews that hold the <strong>switch</strong> to the wall.2. Pull the <strong>switch</strong> gently away from the wall.DO NOT REMOVE ANY WIRES.3. Place the module and bracket housing over theopen <strong>switch</strong> box.4. Loosen screw to mains input (in the back of the<strong>switch</strong>) without removing any wires.5. Insert the chosen module live wire into the inputand tighten screw to secure.6. Put the other module wire into the <strong>switch</strong> output.Follow steps 4 and 5 to complete the procedure.7. Ensure all wires are secure in relevant ports.8. Assemble the rest of the bracket (see below) andalign with screw holes in the <strong>switch</strong> box.9. A double-sided sticky pad is provided to securethe bracket to the wall.10. Position the <strong>switch</strong> plate over the bracket aligningthe screw holes. Using the extended screwsprovided, secure the whole assembly to the wall.11. When the assembly is fully secure you can<strong>switch</strong> on the mains.12. The Select <strong>Ranger</strong> is now ready for use.* A 2 Way <strong>switch</strong> is defined as being one of two light <strong>switch</strong>eswhich operate the same light from different locations.LIGHT SWITCHASSEMBLY4


5WARNING: DISCONNECT MAINS POWERPRIOR TO INSTALLATIONB IMMERSION HEATER SWITCH (<strong>Ranger</strong> 2)For immersion heater follow instructionsfor 13 amp sockets.C 13 AMP SOCKETSSingle/Twin/Switched/Un<strong>switch</strong>edNB. For the <strong>time</strong>r module to operate effectively onyour 13 amp socket, it needs to be fitted differentlyto the module being attached to a light <strong>switch</strong>.1. After <strong>switch</strong>ing off the mains, remove the twoscrews holding the socket front plate to the wall.2. Pull the front plate gently away from the wall.DO NOT REMOVE ANY WIRES YET.3. Place the module and bracket over the opensocket. Identify the LIVE WIRE on the back of thesocket and undo the screw holding it in place.4. Using the connector provided join the LIVE WIREto the chosen module live wire (see diagrambelow). Undo screws, place live wire in one endand module wire in the other and tighten screws.LIVE WIREto socket5. Insert the other module wire into the LIVE terminalon the back of the socket and tighten the screw.6. Ensure that all wires are secure.7. Assemble the rest of the bracket and align with thescrew holes in the socket box.8. Use the double-sided sticky pad provided tosecure the bracket to the wall.9. Position the socket front plate over the bracketaligning the screw holes. Using the extendedscrews provided secure the whole assembly tothe wall.10. Switch on the mains.11. The Select <strong>Ranger</strong>is now ready foruse.12. For the socket tooperate normallyensure that theDOUBLE SOCKETASSEMBLYLIVE WIRE toTimer Module<strong>time</strong>r module is inthe ON mode.SINGLE SOCKETASSEMBLY13. When wishing to put the<strong>time</strong>r programme intoOPERATION mode andensure that the <strong>time</strong>rmodule is in AUTOmode and leave thesocket <strong>switch</strong>(es) inthe ON position.D ANGLE BRACKETThis bracket has been provided to give an improvedviewing angle (particularly useful when attaching themodule to low mounted sockets).To fit the angle bracket, remove the module from themain bracket (see page 4). Place the angle bracketover the main bracket, ensuring that the lips are fittedover the main bracket. Replace module as before(see page 4).E DIMMER SWITCH One Way onlyOPTION 1 - Fit as if to a normal light <strong>switch</strong>.When operating the light through your Select <strong>Ranger</strong>the light will come on at full intensity. The dimmer<strong>switch</strong> will operate normally.OPTION 2 - Fit as if to a socket. This will allow you toadjust the setting on the dimmer.NOTE: (Option 2 only) For the dimmer <strong>switch</strong> to operatenormally the Select <strong>Ranger</strong> must be in the ‘ON’mode. To operate the lights with the <strong>time</strong>dprogrammes, the Select <strong>Ranger</strong> must be in the‘AUTO’ mode with the dimmer <strong>switch</strong> on andadjusted to the correct settingNB: NOT SUITABLE FOR FITTING TO SURFACEMOUNTED SWITCHES OR SOCKETS.Surface mounted refers to <strong>switch</strong>esor sockets which are mounted on apattress (base box) affixed to a wall.As with most industrial/commercialsockets. See diagram.FAULT FINDING1. If the LCD fails to come on, check that the battery isfitted correctly.2. If the module fails to operate the <strong>time</strong>r programme,check for low battery and replace if necessary.3. If the LCD locks in one position, press the RESETbutton then follow the setting/programming instructions.IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT ABOUT ANY OF THESE FITTING INSTRUCTIONS, CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
