Dr. Damala works as a Post-Doctoral Associate Researcher in Cultural Engineering, Museum
Studies and Interaction Design, in the CEDRIC laboratory of the Conservatoire National des
Arts et Métiers, in Paris, France. Her research interests are focused on the interpretative uses
of New Technologies in Museums and Cultural Heritage Institutions with a particular focus
on Mixed and Augmented Reality applications and mobile learning in informal and formal
learning environments. Dr. Damala has a dual background in Museum and Visitor Studies
and Information and Communication Technologies. She has participated in several national
and European research projects and Networks of Excellence -particularly related with the use
of Augmented Reality, and mobile and context aware interpretative applications for the
museum visit- and has collaborated with many European Museums, CH institutions and
research academic and industrial laboratories. During the winter semester 2011-2012 Dr.
Damala taught the post-graduate course "Museums and Education: Digital Media in Museum
Pedagogics" at the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University
of the Aegean, in Mytilene, Greece (http://www.ct.aegean.gr/en) while in the spring semester
she taught as an adjunct lecturer at the Université Paris 1 (Panthéon, Sorbonne) the use of ICT
and documentation technologies to undergraduate History of Art and Archeology students
(http://www.univ-paris1.fr/en/ufr/ufr03/).
