PART – 1LEGISLATIVE DEPARTMENTNotificationThe 10 th March, 1998No. Leg. 11/98. – The following Act of the Legislature of the State of Haryana received the assent of thePresident of India on the 20 th February, 1998, and is hereby published for general information:-<strong>HARYANA</strong> <strong>ACT</strong> NO. 10 OF 1998<strong>THE</strong> <strong>HARYANA</strong> STATE <strong>ELECTRICITY</strong> <strong>REFORM</strong> <strong>ACT</strong>, <strong>1997</strong>AN<strong>ACT</strong>to provide for the constitution of an Electricity Regulatory Commission,restructuring of the electricity industry, rationalisation of the generation, transmission,distribution and supply of electricity avenues for participation of private sectorentrepreneurs in the electricity industry and generally for taking measures conduciveto the development and management of the electricity industry in an efficient, economicand competitive manner and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Haryana in the Forty-eighth Yearof the Republic of India as follows:--PART IPRELIMINARYShort title, extent andcommencement1. (1) This Act may be called the Haryana Electricity Reform Act, <strong>1997</strong>.(2). It extends to the whole of the State of Haryana.(3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government shall notify inthe Official Gazette.Definitions2.
