FINAL PROPOSALS WILLBE ACCEPTED BY INVITATION ONLY.<strong>Submission</strong> Deadline The deadline <strong>for</strong> the 2013 RSC Research Grant <strong>Proposal</strong> submission is November 15, 2012.<strong>Submission</strong> Please use designated application <strong>for</strong>m – see webpage. <strong>Proposal</strong> <strong>for</strong>ms must be submitted via email to studies@petsafe.net in Microsoft Word .doc<strong>for</strong>mat. <strong>Form</strong>s submitted in print <strong>for</strong>mat (e.g. .pdf file) will not be accepted. Direct any questions via email to studies@petsafe.net.Style and <strong>Form</strong>at <strong>Submission</strong> <strong>for</strong>m length is not to exceed eight (8) printed pages. Page size is a pre<strong>for</strong>matted US standard 8.5” x 11” with margins set to 1”. The minimum font size is eleven (11) point in Arial or twelve (12) in Times New Roman, doubleline space. <strong>Proposal</strong>s exceeding length or using smaller font size will not be accepted.<strong>Project</strong> DurationThe full project, or portions of the project <strong>for</strong> which funding is requested, should ideally becompleted within one calendar year upon receipt of funds. (If the project includes potential longtermfollow-up studies after completion of the initial study, then separate individual proposalsmay subsequently be submitted <strong>for</strong> consideration).Budget Grants <strong>for</strong> project C (remote training collars) are limited to up to $200,000 US <strong>for</strong> individualprojects.Costs such as investigator, co-investigator and assistant salaries or stipends, major equipmentpurchases, and student tuition will not be funded. Indirect costs or institutional overhead chargeswill be limited to 10% of total direct costs.IACUC (or equivalent) ApprovalAll prospective research studies funded by RSC must receive full approval from the PI’sInstitutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or equivalent research review entitybe<strong>for</strong>e funds are released, although applications may be made in advance of submission to theIACUC or equivalent review entity. If IACUC (or equivalent) approval is pending at the time offull proposal submission to RSC, proof of subsequent complete approval must be made availableto RSC be<strong>for</strong>e funds will be released <strong>for</strong> the research project.Investigators of funded proposals are required to: Provide a written 300 word research update to RSC at the end of the project period. Provide a 600 word final research summary suitable <strong>for</strong> publication in media targeted at thegeneral public no later than 12 months after the end of the project period. Submit the results of their studies <strong>for</strong> publication in a peer-reviewed journal as well as present thefindings at scientific conferences.
