ImmunoCAP® Specific IgESpecific IgEImmunoCAP Specific IgE provides an objective measurement ofthe circulating IgE antibodies and the sensitization to a specificallergen. Specific IgE antibodies appear as a result of exposureand following sensitization to an allergen. ImmunoCAP SpecificIgE measure IgE antibodies to specific allergens in human serumor plasma and allows quantitative measurements of a widerange of individual allergens and allergen components. Over 600different allergens are available for determinations.Reagents Phadia® 5000 / Phadia® 2500Product Size Art. Specific IgG4Specific IgG4 measures antigen specific IgG4antibodies in human serum and plasma. Themeasurements of Specific IgG and/or Specific IgG4antibodies have been used in clinical studies ofdifferent allergic diseases such as asthma, rhinitis, urticaria, eczema and gastrointestinal disorders butalso in different lung diseases, e.g. allergic alveolitis, aspergilloma and aspergillosis. In monitoringimmunotherapy with inhalants and hymenopteravenoms increased levels of specific IgG and/or IgG4are generally seen. It is generally believed thatspecific IgG and IgG4 antibodies are biomarkers ofantigen exposure.ImmunoCAP® Specific IgG4Reagents Phadia® 5000 / Phadia® 2500 / Phadia® 1000 / Phadia® 250Product Size Art. ImmunoCAP® Specific IgASpecific IgASpecific IgA measures antigen-specific IgA antibodies in human serum and plasma.Specific IgA antibodies are part of the natural immune defense system of the body. They are present in secretions such as saliva, in the mucosa, as well as in the blood.Levels of specific IgA increase when the immune system responds, for example, to afood allergen.Reagents Phadia® 100Product Size Art. ECPECP measures the level of Eosinophil Cationic Protein(ECP) released in serum.ECP is a highly cytotoxic protein found in eosinophilgranules. Eosinophils are the cells chiefly responsible forproducing the inflammation characteristic of asthma. When eosinophils in the airway are activated, theyundergo degranulation causing airway epithelial damageand desquamation. This can increase hypersensitivity andlead to chronicinflammatory disease of the airway. ECP is releasedfrom the activated eosinophils during the inflammationprocess.ImmunoCAP® ECPReagents Phadia® 1000 / Phadia® 250Product Size Art. ImmunoCAP® TryptaseTryptaseImmunoCAP® Tryptase measures the total level of both αlphatryptaseand beta-tryptase in serum/plasma.Mature beta-tryptase, stored in granula, is only released duringmast cell activation. The transiently increased levels serve as aclinical marker confirming severe reactions as anaphylaxis. The continuously release of tryptase into the blood reflects thenumber of mast cells.Elevated baseline levels serve as a risk marker for certainsensitized patients to get into severe anaphylactic reactions, e.g.after bee/wasp sting or introduction of drugs.Pathological levels of tryptase reflect the increased mast cellburden in several haematological disorders.Reagents Phadia® 1000 / Phadia® 250Product Size Art. Allergen componentsThe term Allergen component is used for products based on molecular allergens purified from either their natural source (native)or biotechnologically produced as recombinant proteins.By using tests for single allergenic components as a complement to more traditional IgE antibody tests, further clinically relevantinformation can be gained.ImmunoCAP Allergen components are useful tools when investigating and explaining allergic reactions more in detail and todetermine if they are caused by cross-reacting IgE antibodies to different allergens.Allergen components, native and recombinantProduct Code Size Art. ImmunoCAP® RapidImmunoCAP® Rapid is a point-of-care test for in vitro qualitativedetermination of allergen specific IgE in human capillary blood orheparinized whole venous blood.ImmunoCAP Rapid offers an overall solution from capillary bloodsampling to the evaluation of test results including all necessaryequipment such as Blood Sampling Device, Assay Device and DeveloperSolution in each package. The Assay Device, with a symptom-oriented allergen profile, is asingle use, disposable test device. It contains all the allergens tobe tested and the necessary reagents for the reaction to occur.Ten allergens are included in every Assay Device. The results are read visually within 20 minutes. A pink-red line next tothe allergen code indicates presence of specific IgE antibodies to thatparticular allergen.ImmunoCAP Rapid gives results direct – clear and simple.ImmunoCAP ® RapidProduct Size Art. Immuno Solid-phase Allergen ChipBased on modern biochip technology, ImmunoCAP® ISAC is aminiaturized immunoassay platform that allows for multiplexmeasurement of specific antibodies to many allergen componentsusing only 20 µl of serum or plasma. Capillary blood sampling can beused, enabling a less invasive procedure for testing young childrenPurified natural or recombinant allergen components are immobilizedon a solid support (biochip). In a two step assay, antibodies from thepatient serum bind to the immobilized allergen components. Aftera short washing step, allergen-bound antibodies are detected by afluorescence-labeled antibody.Test results are measured with a biochip scanner and evaluated usingproprietary software. ImmunoCAP ISAC is a semi-quantitative test andresults are reported in ISAC Standardized Units (ISU).ImmunoCAP® ISACImmunoCAP® ISACProduct Size Art. Thyroglobulin IgG and Thyroid Peroxidase IgGThyroid autoimmunity comprises a number of distinct butpathogenically related immune disorders of the thyroid gland. The autoimmune response is dominated by anti-thyroidantibodies directed against the prohormone Thyroglobulin(TG) and Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO). ImmunoCAP® Thyroglobulinand Thyroid Peroxidase quantitatively measures IgG antibodiesspecific for Thyroglobulin and Thyroid Peroxidase respectively inhuman serum or plasma. These tests can be used as an aid in theclinical diagnosis of certain thyroid diseases, such as autoimmunethyroiditis and Graves´disease.Thyroid DiseasesProduct Size Art. Quality Club Compare your lab performanceDemands for better quality assessment andperformance standards are growing. So isQuality Club.Health authorities throughout the worldare striving to create performance andcomparability standards. These ambitionsrequire that diagnostic testing laboratoriescontinuously assess their performance.Thermo Scientific Quality Club is aninternational quality assessment programthat helps participating laboratories meetthis need. Today, the available programsare specific IgE, total IgE, ECP and EliAAutoimmunity and more than 900 testinglaboratories are active members.Every month, these laboratories receivea detailed, confidential report of theirperformance so that they can comparetheir test results with others. Results from all labsN (except outliers) 465Median 30 kU A/lMean 29.9 kU A/lSD 3.09 kU A/lCV 10.3 %Mean - 2 SD 23.8 kU A/lMean + 2 SD 36.1 kU A/lYour results 29.6 kU A /lDeviation from mean -1.15 %Deviation score -0.11Quality Club Specific IgEMonthly ReportLab Code: 040 019Test Period: September 2011Sample Lot No.: AWUB5System: Phadia 250 (01487)Percent of all labs252015105038.9How to become a memberQuality Club membership is open to all public and private sectorlaboratories operating Phadia® Laboratory Systems. For more information, contact your local office.Quality ClubProduct Size Art.
