ACCOUNTABILITIESCommunications: Support effective communication with <strong>First</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> to establish a sound understanding of and appropriate participation inthe implementation of the <strong>health</strong> plans and subsequent agreements including ensuring an understanding of the role andmandate of the FNHA, FNHC, and FNHDA in implementing these agreements. Support the development or strengthening of relationships between the Regional Caucus/Regional Tables, CommunityEngagement Hubs, BC <strong>First</strong> Nation communities, and the provincial Vancouver Coastal <strong>Health</strong> Authority, and <strong>health</strong> andsocial service organizations in the Vancouver Coastal region. As required, gather, prepare and provide information and materials in coordination with the FNHC Secretariat and the FNHAcommunications team to support community engagement for <strong>First</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> and the Vancouver Coastal region.Communications to be provided in a variety of formats (i.e. briefing notes, speaking notes, memorandums, reports,PowerPoint presentations etc.). Coordinate public/media relations work with the FNHA Communications team in support of community engagement.Provide updates as required to FNHA Communications Team on community engagement initiatives in the Vancouver Coastalregion.Coordination and Logistics Support: Coordinate community engagement initiatives in the region and alignment of these to FNHA Community Engagementstrategies. Organize, coordinate and provide technical and logistical support to Regional Caucus meetings (including sub-<strong>regional</strong>),Regional Table meetings along with other community engagement meetings. This includes: logistical planning, invitationsand accommodations. Support the development and distribution of meeting agendas, packages and records of decisions. Facilitate meetings, deliver presentations (as required) record and prepare meeting notes, records of decisions and ensureattendance sheets are completed for Regional Caucus/Regional Table meetings along with other community engagementmeetings. Ensure participants review and provide feedback. Work with the <strong>regional</strong> representative of the FNHC and the FNHDA to develop work plans for the <strong>regional</strong> communityengagement approach to ensure coordination at the Caucus, Regional Table, and community hub levels, including meetingschedules, tasks, timelines, and responsibilities. Compile, analyze and keep updated records of community engagement strategies/initiatives, documents and agreementsaligned to FNHA Records Management policies and procedures. Assist in the development of plans and prepare regular reports on community engagement activities in the VancouverCoastal region. Develop and update on an annual basis profiles on community engagement HUBS and activities.Planning Support: Assist in the development, alignment, and sustainability of the Community Engagement Hubs in the Vancouver Coastalincluding the development operational work plans and related contribution agreements with the FNHA. Ensure Community Engagement Hubs are functioning as networks for communication, collaboration, and planning and arenot competing with mandated <strong>health</strong> organizations. Support the coordination of Urban-Rural-Remote approaches for community engagement in the Vancouver Coastal regionincluding ensuring the inclusion of <strong>First</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> not currently part of a CEH in <strong>regional</strong> communication, collaboration andplanning activities as it relates to the implementation of the <strong>health</strong> plans. Support the development of community <strong>health</strong> and wellness plans and the Vancouver Coastal Regional <strong>Health</strong> and WellnessPlan in coordination with the Regional Caucus/Table. This will include assisting in the gathering and analysis feedback andexiting plans from <strong>First</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> Communities to identify <strong>health</strong> service gaps and opportunities for improvement,collaboration and partnerships. Support capacity development in <strong>First</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> communities so they can address their own <strong>health</strong> planning and <strong>health</strong>resource needs. Support building and strengthening partnerships with existing services in <strong>First</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> communities, including VancouverCoastal <strong>Health</strong> Authority, to benefit <strong>First</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> communities. Participate in and support Vancouver Coastal Regional <strong>Health</strong> Authority meetings and committees as required. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Public Administration, <strong>Health</strong>, Business, Political or Social Science or relevantcombination of education and experience. Experience in working with <strong>First</strong> <strong>Nations</strong>/Aboriginal people at a community and/or political level including in the area ofcommunity engagement and community/organizational development.COMPETENCIES AND QUALITIES: Understanding of community engagement and development, provincial and federal <strong>health</strong> systems, and Aboriginal/<strong>First</strong><strong>Nations</strong> <strong>health</strong> system needs. Understanding of <strong>health</strong> related issues in general and those affecting <strong>First</strong> Nation communities in particular Excellent relationship building skills including the ability to work effectively, collaboratively, and cooperatively with diversegroups, organizations, and individuals. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, set priorities effectively and problem solve, including early identification ofissues/problems that may arise. Ability to synthesize information and feedback into easily understood and audience appropriate briefing notes, reports andpresentations. Work plan development, documentation and analytical skills including the ability to synthesize information from a variety ofsources. Ability to prepare basic research and prepare reports/recommendations. Ability to act as a professional and competent representative of the FNHA. Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Proven meeting management skills including effective agenda, meeting coordination and facilitation skills. Time management skills and ability to work under deadlines and tight turnaround times. Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite A valid BC Driver’s LicenseWORKING CONDITIONS Flexibility in relation to work schedules is required.
