Ground Release IISystemSwift Lift Anchor Shear (Edge Lifting) SWL’She Swift Lift System is very useful for raising tilt-up panels from the horizontal casting position to a vertical position. When theP-52 SL Anchor is used under this shear loading condition, special shear bars must be positioned tightly against the recessplug as shown in the illustrations below to prevent the concrete from spalling. The P-59 Shear Bars must be used to developthe safe shear working loads shown. To develop the shear capacity of the P-52 SL Anchor the minimum spacing between two anchors is two times the cornerdistance. When raising panels to a vertical position, always check both shear SWL and tension SWL.Lifting SystemsCoil InsertsAnchorShaftDiameterxAnchorLength9-1/16”Dia.x6-3/4”or Longer3/4”Dia.x9-1/2”or LongerPanelStructureThicknessMinimumCornerDistanceShear SafeWorkingLoad PerAnchor(lbs.)5” 20” 3,5005-1/2” 20” 4,4006” 20” 5,2007” 20” 5,4008” 20” 5,6005-1/2” 24” 4,2006” 24” 4,4007” 24” 5,2008” 24” 5,600P-59 shear Bar SetbackAnchorShaftADiameter9/16” 1/2”3/4” 3/4”SWL provides a factor of safety of approximately 2 to 1 in2,500 psi concrete. The above Shear Safe Working Loads are based on the use ofP-51 SL Lifting Eye only! DO NOT ATTEMPT to use any othertype of lifting hardware when edge lifting of tilt-up wall panelsusing P-52 Swift Lift Anchors.Danger! See page 4 for lightweight concrete SWL reductionfactorsDanger! Dayton Superior does not recommend the use ofP-52 SL Anchors without shear bars for edge lifting tilt-uppanels. Spalling of the concrete above the anchor will resultand the anchor could pull out of the concrete at lower thananticipated loads.Suggested Rigging MethodDayton Superior recommends the use of this type ofrigging when using the Swift Lift System to edge lifttilt-up panels. 4-point rigging would be similar to the2-point rigging shown.Warning! The use of angular rigging will apply loadsgreater than those anticipated and should be avoided.42 04-09
