ROTAMAT ®Sludge Acceptance Plant Ro 3For problem-free mechanical treatment even ofdifficult-to-treat media– with integrated screenings press– with integrated screenings washing system– optional as a complete plant with integrated grit trapThe QualityCompany –Worldwide

HUBER provides complete systems and processes forseptic sludge treatment. Our equipment, as provenduring many years of experience, is especially suited forseptic sludge treatment. Hundreds of ROTAMAT ® plantsfor septic sludge treatment have been installedworldwide. Septic sludge is typically delivered in tankervehicles. Depending on the size of the WWTP, it may bepumped into a balancing tank from where it iscontinuously fed to the plant.Direct feeding without prior balancing is possible atlarger plants. In any case, removal of coarse material, such as hygienicproducts, plastic material, etc., from the septic sludge isnecessary. There are several requirements for goodseptic sludge treatment:➤ High capacity to minimise waiting time of tankervehicles➤ High separation efficiency to achieve excellentseparation of non-degradable material➤ Automation to minimise operator attendance➤ Complete encasement to eliminate odour annoyance➤ Integrated screenings press to produce screeningssuitable for landfill and to reduce their weight anddisposal costs➤ Reliable operation without impairment by grit andgravelIndoor installation of a ROTAMAT ® SludgeAcceptance Plant Ro 3To meet these requirements HUBER developed specialROTAMAT ® machines and plants that have proven theirefficiency and reliability in hundreds of installations. After its mechanical treatment the septic sludge is eitherfed directly into a digester, pumped into a storage tankor discharged directly into the inlet of the WWTP.➤➤➤ Three options for septic sludge treatmentTreatment of septic sludge as specified in ATV Standard A 123tanker vehicle3 options for septic sludge treatmentstorage tankmeasuringstationSludge Acceptance Plantwithout grit trapblended with raw sludge or feddirectly into a digestercentral controlmeasuringstationSludge Acceptance Plant withsubsequent grit trapoder in Kläranlagen-Zulaufmeasuringstationthickenedseptic sludgeSludge Acceptance Plant with ingegratedgrit trap and classifying screwsupernatantafter thickening: thickened sludge to sludge treatmentand supernatant to wastewater treatment

➤➤➤ The ROTAMAT® Sludge Acceptance Tank Ro 3 ...… is used for mechanical treatment of septic sludge. AROTAMAT® Fine Screen Ro 1 or ROTAMAT® MicroStrainer Ro 9 is installed in a tank. The septic sludge isfed into the tank and, as it flows through the FineScreen or Micro Strainer, all coarse material is retained.A screw conveyor with integrated screenings pressremoves the screenings from the tank, reduces theirvolume and weight and drops them into a container orbagging device. The entire treatment takes place in afully enclosed system; odour nuisance is thus prevented. The screenings are additionally washed which makesthem suitable for landfill. The filtrate is blended into thewastewater for further treatment in the WWTP.If an outstanding separation efficiency is required, everyversion of Sludge Acceptance Plant can be alternativelyequipped with the well-proven ROTAMAT® WedgeSection Screen Ro 2.➤➤➤ Ro 3.1 Sludge Acceptance Plantwith ROTAMAT ® Fine Screen Ro 1The robust and efficient Ro 3.1 version has become themost popular system of its kind. Its superior design andengineering guarantee most dependable operation –day after day, year after year. The main component of this Sludge Acceptance Plant isthe reliable ROTAMAT ® Fine Screen Ro 1. It excels withits high capacity, good separation efficiency and lowhead loss. Another exceptional feature is its integratedscreenings press with all its benefits. The ROTAMAT ®Fine Screen is extremely sturdy, able to deal with rocksand grit, and entirely made of stainless steel. It is fullyself-cleansing as its rake tines fully engage the basketbars. (Please find more detailed information in ourseparate Ro 1 brochure.)ROTAMAT ® Sludge Acceptance Plant Ro 3.1 withmetering, customer identification and automaticsampling.Floating and suspended material is retained in thescreen basket. The tines mesh into the basket bars andensure a complete automatic cleaning.➤➤➤ Ro 3.2 Sludge Acceptance Plant withROTAMAT ® Micro Strainer Ro 9This is an efficient and low-cost alternative to our Ro3.1. It can be used for low flow and load applications. In this Ro 3 version the screen basket is cleaned by thestainless steel screw. Additional cleaning is achieved bywear-resistant brushes fitted to the screw flights.ROTAMAT ® Sludge Acceptance Plant Ro 3.2 withintegrated Micro Strainer, heating and insulation.

➤➤➤ Ro 3.3 Sludge Acceptance Plant Compact Versionwith Grit Trap and Grit ClassifierThis type of plant is used for complete separation ofscreenings and grit. It consists of:➤ Fine screen with integrated screenings press➤ Unaerated grit trap with grit classifierDue to integration of all components in a single tank itis a very compact plant and odour annoyance isprevented. Complete treatment of the septic sludge isperformed within a single unit.➤➤➤ Balancing tanks for raw septic sludgeBalancing tanks can be installed above or below groundand allow continuous treatment of septic sludge. Aboveground installations are often thermally insulated, asshown in the photo on the right. After its treatment inthe Sludge Acceptance Plant the septic sludge may bestored in a dosing tank to allow controlled dischargeinto the wastewater treatment plant.Three types of plants are available for septic sludgetreatment:1. Sludge Acceptance Plant2. Sludge Acceptance Plant with subsequent grit trap3. Compact version of Sludge Acceptance Plant withintegrated grit trap and grit classifierThermally insulated balancing tanks allow continuousoperation of the septic sludge treatment plant.➤➤➤ Sludge Acceptance Plant with subsequent grit trapA subsequent grit trap is required where the septicsludge is not blended with raw wastewater andtherefore does not flow through the grit trap of theWWTP. A combined unit, as shown in the photo, isavailable for this application. There are two installationoptions: The grit trap can either be installed below (seephoto) or subsequent to the Sludge Acceptance Plant. This type of grit trap, however, separates only coarsegrit.ROTAMAT ® Sludge Acceptance Plant with subsequentgrit trapHans Huber AGMaschinen- und AnlagenbauPostfach 63 · D-92332 BerchingTelephone: + 49 - 84 62 - 201 - 0Telefax: + 49 - 84 62 - 201 - 810e-mail: info@huber.deInternet: www.huber.deSubject to technical alterationROTAMAT ®Sludge AcceptancePlant Ro 31,5 / 1 – 4.2005 – 4.2005
