The <strong>Champion</strong> • Wednesday 19 June 2013Drama group honourstalwart MichaelReport by Henry JamesA STALWART of the Ormskirk Pleasure Folkhas been awarded life membership of theamateur dramatic and musical society.Michael Chambers was presented with hisrecognition by Pleasure Folk chairperson,Liz Wainwright.His family connections with the group goback to its inception more than 40 years agoas he is the son of Julie Chambers andgrandson of Esther and Johnnny Wilson,founder members.While Michael’s own first experience of thesociety came when, as a young lad, he wentalong with his nan, mum and sister and tooksmall parts in various pantos – whether heliked it or not!Life member, Jim Briscoe, who nominatedMichael for membership of the exclusiveclub, said: “He is a continued link with theWilson/Chambers family, who not onlyhelped found this wonderful society, butwho have helped it in so many ways over theyears. Today, Michael is the only familymember ‘still standing’ and while thatmight not be a good enough reason toconsider him for life membership, longevityisn’t his only outstanding quality.Michael receives his life membershipCode NA“Far from just ‘being around’, membersreally do see Michael as a vital cog in thePleasure Folk machinery that puts all ourshows on stage.
