<strong>ESGE</strong> Compact Library<br />

We are happy to announce that the <strong>ESGE</strong><br />

Compact Library DVD, a compilation of<br />

the existing <strong>ESGE</strong> Teaching Encyclopedia,<br />

is now available for online order to all<br />

<strong>ESGE</strong> individual members.<br />

This DVD incorporates the highlights of<br />

volumes 1–26, in which world class experts<br />

demonstrate ERCP, EUS, Upper and<br />

Lower GI tract procedures. Diagnostic, as<br />

well as therapeutic techniques are explained<br />

and demonstrated in detail.<br />

Meanwhile the recently formed <strong>ESGE</strong> elearning<br />

working group, chaired by Lars<br />

Aabakken, is busy preparing new teaching<br />

aids. In addition to this revised encyclopedia<br />

which will remain a benefit to<br />

<strong>ESGE</strong> individual members, selected material<br />

will be distributed on the OLGa platform<br />

for online access.<br />

<strong>ESGE</strong> Research grant<br />

Online application now open!<br />

<strong>ESGE</strong> research grants are awarded to the<br />

best research projects in the field of gastrointestinal<br />

diagnostic or therapeutic endoscopy.<br />

Two grants of 10 000 € per year are<br />

awarded to <strong>ESGE</strong> individual members.<br />

Support is preferably given to multicentre<br />

projects presenting original ideas by well<br />

organised teams with a reasonable budget.<br />

<strong>ESGE</strong> Given Imaging Research grant<br />

The Given Imaging research grant has<br />

been initiated to support innovative, original<br />

research in gastroenterology with<br />

substantial involvement of capsule endoscopy.<br />

One grant of 8000 € per year is awarded to<br />

<strong>ESGE</strong> individual members.<br />

A substantial number of capsules will be<br />

provided, the number determined by the<br />

Research Grant Committee on review of<br />

the successful grant application.<br />

Travel expenses and Ethical Committee<br />

fees will be covered up to a maximum total<br />

value of € 8000.<br />

The grant for the year <strong>2012</strong> was awarded<br />

to Dr Koulaouzidis, UK, to support the<br />

study “A combination of PillCam ® SB2 and<br />

SmartPill ® in the investigation of patients<br />

referred for assessment of small-bowel<br />

Crohnʼs disease and association with faecal<br />

calprotectin levels”.<br />
