Appendix Trouble shootingIn this section some common problems are discussed.(Q = Question and A = Answer )Q: I draw a ladder block and nothing happens when I print or look at theinstruction code !A: Remem<strong>be</strong>r to use the key or key after you have drawn a ladderblock on the screen. Only after this the block is added to the instructioncode. See page 40.Q: The screen or a window shows no text.A: The cause may <strong>be</strong> that the same foreground and background colour is specifiedso that it is not possible to see the printed characters. See page 88 for moreinformation on setting colours.If it is not possible to use the Setup menu <strong>be</strong>cause of badly selected colours,leave <strong>Actsip</strong>-H (if necessary by using +) and then use the DOScommand DEL to remove the configuration file SETUPH.DAT. (Type "DELSETUPH.DAT " at the DOS prompt to remove the setup informationfile.) Then restart <strong>Actsip</strong>-H and select new colours.See page 102 for more information on DOS and DOS commands.Q: Nothing happens during monitor or the text that you enter at a prompt is notshown in reverse.A: This only happens if your screen is monochrome but your computer has acolour card. Use the "Setup-PC-Screen colours" command to change thecolours of the menus and screens to Black and White only!Q: Communication doesn't work, <strong>Actsip</strong>-H responds "Communication error".What can possibly <strong>be</strong> wrong?A: There are numerous problems with communication such as problems withcables. If you are sure that everything is connected right then check thefollowing:1. Are you using the right serial port on your computer? Check page 99.2. Are the communication parameters correct? Check page 99.3. Are the PLC Network L, U, M, and P variables correct? Check page99.4. Is the PLC Network num<strong>be</strong>r correct? Check page 99.Q: <strong>Actsip</strong>-H responds with "Not accepted by PLC" when I try to transfer myprogram to the PLC, what is wrong?A: The PLC could <strong>be</strong> occupied by another unit.
