AStrategic direction and development of the school (in co-operation with,and under the direction of, the Head Teacher):• Support all staff in achieving the priorities and targets which the schoolsets for itself, and to provide them with support and guidance inimplementing schemes of work;• Ensure that parents and carers are well informed about the schoolcurriculum, its targets, children’s attainment and their part in theprocess of improvement;• To be responsible for the development and introduction of the WelshBaccalaureate (KS4 and KS5) and the Certificate in PersonalEffectiveness (KS3);• To lead the strategic development of the curriculum through work withthe school’s leadership team and subject leaders, reviewing provisionand its responsiveness to the personalisation agenda, ensuringstatutory responsibilities are met and national and local initiativesappropriately incorporated into provision;• To ensure departments deliver a co-ordinated, coherent curriculumentitlement for all pupils;• To be responsible for the development and review of school policiesrelating to the curriculum, the use of data, self-evaluation, teaching andlearning (with the 2 nd deputy) and contribute to the school improvementplan;• To help set and achieve challenging and ambitious targets and to beresponsible for the construction of the school’s timetable to reflect theschool’s aims and priorities. Ensuring that pupils are well informedabout option choices between each key stage and manage theschool’s option processes;• To act as the professional lead for the Governors’ Curriculum subcommitteeand provide advice and guidance as required;• To ensure that the school is compliant with WG guidance oncollaboration and lead the school involvement in the Cynon Valleypartnership;• Ensure effective strategies are in place to evaluate the effectiveness ofthe curriculum and the school’s use of data.B. Teaching and Learning:• Develop a classroom environment and teaching practice which secureseffective learning across the breadth of the National Curriculum and theEntitlement Curriculum. Providing a professional model, clearlydemonstrating effective teaching, classroom organisation and display,and high standards of achievement, behaviour and discipline;
