Alba Sud seesresearch and communication as tools to service proposals on transformation and emancipation, infight against inequality and in support of societies with higher levels of inequalityEED (Church Development Service – An Association of the Protestant Churches in Germany)supports programs of partner organisations and monitors development policies of Governmentsand Multilateral Institutions to help ensure peace, justice and human rights. <strong>Tourism</strong> <strong>Watch</strong> is abrand and a working unit within the EED and promotes with ecumenical partners a sustainable,environmentally sound and socially responsible tourism. It tasks include raising awareness forresponsible travelling, consultancy for ecumenical study-tours, dialogue with the travel industry,lobbying activities, advocating alternatives in tourism and publishing “<strong>Tourism</strong><strong>Watch</strong>”. InOctober 2012, EED will merge with Bread for the World and become “Bread for the World – TheChurch Development Service”. The office will be in Berlin.Fair Trade in <strong>Tourism</strong> South Africa (FTTSA) is South Africa’s leading responsible tourism NGOand owner and operator of the world’s first (and still only) tourism fair trade certification system.FTTSA is a member of the Global Sustainable <strong>Tourism</strong> Council, the Global Partnership forSustainable <strong>Tourism</strong> and the Code International, and is the elected Secretariat of the Sustainable<strong>Tourism</strong> Certification Alliance Africa for the period 2012-2015.Instituto Terramar was founded in 1993 as a result of the protest trip of a Jangada - traditionalsailboat used on the coast of the Northeast of Brazil. The NGO is working with coastalcommunities in the state of Ceará for sustainable local development of artisanal fisheries,subsistence agriculture, handicraft and community tourism. Terramar has organizedseveral International Seminars of Sustainable <strong>Tourism</strong> in cooperation with EED <strong>Tourism</strong> <strong>Watch</strong>,Akte and other european NGO´s. These events were supported with grants from SST SwissFoundation for Sustainable <strong>Tourism</strong> and the filantropic Association Friends of Prainha do CentoVerde, both in Switzerland. The community tourism network TUCUM won the TODO Contest in2008.Kabani – the other direction is a non-profit organisation based in Kerala, India. Kabani isconcerned about the impacts of tourism and development on people’s livelihood andenvironment. The organisation does research, advocacy, networking, and training activities forsustainability in tourism development and facilitates campaigns against unsustainable forms oftourism. Kabani supports community tourism initiatives which have their basis in the localpopulation, focusing on the socio-economic security and sustainable development of the villagesand the protection of natural resources.99
