Please contact Pall or an approved distributor iffurther information is required.2 Receipt of equipmentThe filter housing, and any optional equipment, are packedindividually for assembly by the customer. Unpack carefullyand ensure optional items are not mislaid in packaging to bediscarded.3 General sources of information3.1 For dimensions, operating parameters,assembly/element part number, ordering information, notes, performance data and specifications refer todatasheet IMUR319EN.3.2 This equipment has been assessed in accordance withthe guidelines laid down in the European PressureDirective 97/23/EC and has been classified within soundengineering practice S.E.P. We hereby declare theequipment meets the requirements of article 3, section3, thus meeting the directive requirements. Under theprovisions of this directive the filter assembly is suitablefor use with group 2 fluids only.3.3 Where under reasonably foreseeable conditions, including external fires, the allowable limits could beexceeded, suitable protective devices must be installedby the customer within the connecting fluid system.4 Installation of housing4.1 The filter can be installed in any attitude, but for ease ofservicing, it is recommended that it be installed verticallywith the filter tube and cover pointing upwards (UR319C)or with the filter tube and cover pointing downwards(UR319H).4.2 The minimum clearance required for element removal isas follows:4.2.1 UR319C series (cover service): 230mm (9in) forlength 8, 370mm (14.5in) for length 13, 530mm(21in) for length 20 and 1040mm (41in) forlength 40 housings.4.2.2 UR319H series (head service): 100mm (3.9in)for all lengths.4.2.3 The UR319 Housing is supplied without a filterelement. For element installation and servicingprocedures, refer to Section 7.4.3 Threaded differential pressure devices, when fitted, mustbe torque tightened to 30-33 ft/lb or 40-45 Nm. All visualindicators must be clearly visible.NOTE: The UR319 head is supplied with two machineddifferential pressure warning device ports, one fitted with ablanking plug, the other with a plastic shipping plug. If nodifferential pressure warning device is ordered, the shipping plugmust be removed and replaced with a 'B' type blanking plug(P/N HA9000-P8-Kit Z) and torque tightened to 40 ft/lb or 54 Nm.NOTE: Never place the port plug in this port without firstinstalling uniform size -014 O-ring in lower O-ring groove, otherwise a small bypass flow will result, allowing contaminantdownstream of the filter element.CAUTION:Never operate the filter unless both warning deviceports are sealed.4.4 Mount the filter assembly in position using 3.5-13 UNC-2B (A or D ports) or M12 x 1.5M 6H (C or F ports) boltsin the holes on the head mounting pads. Torque bolts to39-80 ft/lb or 53-108 Nm.4.5 Use a check valve downstream of the filter if there is apossibility of reverse flow.4.6 Install the filter housing using additional piping/valving toallow complete filter assembly bypass if filter maintenanceis required without system shutdown. This series is notavailable in a duplex or service bypass configuration.CAUTION:Reverse flow through filter element will cause damage.NOTE: Piping supports should be provided as close as ispracticable to the port connections in order to minimizeexternal loads. This filter assembly must not be electronicallyisolated from the users earthing system. This filter assemblymust be earthed by connecting the users earthing system toone of the inlet/outlet connections.4.7 Connect lines or hoses to housing inlet and outlet ports.WARNING:USE FITTINGS OR ADAPTORS COMPATIBLE WITHPORTS SUPPLIED AS SHOWN BY PART NUMBER ONNAMEPLATE AND NOTED IN DATA SHEETS: USE OFINCORRECT FITTINGS OR ADAPTORS CAN CAUSEFILTER HOUSING OR MANIFOLD FAILURERESULTING IN LOSS OF PRESSURE AND POSSIBLESYSTEM FAILURE OR PERSONAL INJURY.2

UR319RETURN LINE FILTERSUR319 Seriesservice instructionsNote: Painting of the filter housing is optional. The coating onthe filter housing is a suitable painting base. Cover thedifferential pressure warning device and nameplate if paintingof the housing takes place.4.8 Bleed the filter4.8.1 UR319C (cover service): Bleed the filter by opening thevent plug (7) at the top of filter one and one-half turns.Jog system and fill filter until all air bleeds through theplug, then torque tighten plug to 12 ft/lb or 16 Nm.4.8.2 UR319H (head service): Bleed the filter by opening thevent plug (7b) on the head one and one-half turns. Jogsystem and fill filter until all air bleeds through the plug, then torque tighten plug to 12 ft/lb or 16 Nm.Pressurize system fully and check for leaks; if leaks occurrefer to section 5.CAUTION:Failure to bleed the filter housing adequately willincrease the dissolved air content of the system fluidwhich will shorten fluid life and may cause otherproblems in the system.5 Routine maintenance5.1 Pall filters do not normally require special attentionexcept for periodic monitoring of the differential pressurewarning device. Schedule replacement of filter elementevery six months or sooner, and have ample supply ofspare elements available.5.2 If external leakage is noted, replace O-ring at leak. Ifleakage persists, check sealing surfaces for scratches orcracks; replace any defective parts.5.3 Differential pressure devices actuate when the elementneeds changing or because of high fluid viscosity in'cold start' conditions. If 'cold start' conditions exist, seeSection 6.2 and 6.3.5.4 A dirty system can quickly plug a new filter element, especially with Pall high efficiency filter media. It mayrequire one or two initial element changes to stabilizeelement life. If element life is short or differentialpressure is excessive, filter may be undersized; refer tothe sizing and selection section of the product literatureor contact your local Pall representative.5.5 Make sure element change labels are clean andundamaged. Replace illegible labels with the appropriatenew labels.6 Differential pressure devicesReference should be made to product literature for dimensions, operating parameters, part numbering, ordering informationand specifications.6.1 Differential pressure devices actuate when the elementneeds changing or because of high fluid viscosity in'cold start' conditions.6.2 If visual indicator is fitted and actuates during 'cold start'(red button extends 5mm, 3/16"), reset by depressingthe button when the normal operating temperature isreached. If indicator actuates after resetting, replaceelement.NOTE: Option 'P' visual indicator has thermal lockout andmanual reset. No signal below 0°C (32°F), signal above 29°C(80°F).6.3 Use of both positive indication (green light) and negativeindication (red light for dirty element) is recommended toeffectively monitor filter element life.6.3.1 If the electrical switch actuates (e.g. red light comes on)during cold start, continue operating until the signal (redlight) goes out as system warms to normal operatingtemperature. This feature can be used as 'warm up'indication in operating procedures. If the warning signal(red light) remains or appears when system is warm, replace the filter element.Electrical connections and ratings for all differentialpressure switch options:110 VAC = 4A (inductive),4A (resistive)220 VAC = 4A (inductive),4A (resistive)28 VDC = 3A (inductive),5A (resistive)48 VDC = 1A (inductive),1.5A (resistive)125 VDC = 0.25A (inductive),0.5A (resistive)Maximum inrush - 24 amps.Underwriter’s lab.
