<strong>Brer</strong> <strong>Rabbit</strong> saw two bucketshanging inside <strong>the</strong> well.An empty bucket was <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> top.A bucket full of w<strong>at</strong>er was<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> bottom.Bucket5


<strong>Brer</strong> <strong>Rabbit</strong> jumped into <strong>the</strong> emptybucket for a nap, but he was heavierthan <strong>the</strong> bucket of w<strong>at</strong>er.He dropped to <strong>the</strong> bottom of<strong>the</strong> well.6


<strong>Brer</strong> Fox had followed <strong>Brer</strong> <strong>Rabbit</strong>to <strong>the</strong> well.He wanted to see if <strong>Brer</strong> <strong>Rabbit</strong>was really washing his cut.7


<strong>Brer</strong> Fox looked into <strong>the</strong> well.“Wh<strong>at</strong> are you doing down <strong>the</strong>re?”asked <strong>Brer</strong> Fox.<strong>Brer</strong> <strong>Rabbit</strong> thought quickly.“I’m fishing,” he said.8


<strong>Brer</strong> Fox jumped into <strong>the</strong> bucketso he could fish, too.His bucket went to <strong>the</strong> bottom,and <strong>Brer</strong> <strong>Rabbit</strong>’s bucket wentto <strong>the</strong> top.9
