Rev. 2009]<strong>Constitution</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Kenya</strong> 15(3) Where provision is made by law limiting the time within whichproceedings <strong>of</strong> any description may be brought against any person, aperiod <strong>of</strong> time during which a person holds or exercises the functions<strong>of</strong> the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> President shall not be taken into account in calculatingany period <strong>of</strong> time prescribed by that law which determines whetherany such proceedings as are mentioned in subsection (1) or (2) may bebrought against that person.15. (1) There shall be a Vice-President <strong>of</strong> <strong>Kenya</strong>, who shall beappointed by the President.The Vice-President <strong>of</strong><strong>Kenya</strong>.(2) The President shall appoint the Vice-President from among theMinisters who are elected members <strong>of</strong> the National Assembly:Provided that no appointment to the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> Vice-President shallbe made at any time when the functions <strong>of</strong> the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> President arebeing exercised by any person other than the President.(3) The Vice-President shall be the principal assistant <strong>of</strong> thePresident in the discharge <strong>of</strong> his functions.(4) The Vice-President shall not enter upon the duties <strong>of</strong> his<strong>of</strong>fice unless he has taken and subscribed the oath <strong>of</strong> allegiance andsuch oath for the due execution <strong>of</strong> his <strong>of</strong>fice as may be prescribed byParliament.(5) During his tenure <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice, the Vice-President shall not holdany <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>it other than those <strong>of</strong> Vice-President, Minister andmember <strong>of</strong> the National Assembly.(6) The <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> the Vice-President shall become vacant -(a) if the President so directs; or(b) if the holder <strong>of</strong> the <strong>of</strong>fice ceases to be an elected member<strong>of</strong> the National Assembly otherwise than by reason <strong>of</strong> thedissolution <strong>of</strong> Parliament; or(c) upon the election <strong>of</strong> a person to the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> President.15A.(1) There shall be a Prime Minister <strong>of</strong> the Government <strong>of</strong><strong>Kenya</strong>.(2) There shall be two Deputy Prime Ministers <strong>of</strong> the Government<strong>of</strong> <strong>Kenya</strong>.Prime Ministerand Deputy PrimeMinisters.3 <strong>of</strong> 2008, s. 3.(3) Parliament may, by an Act <strong>of</strong> Parliament and notwithstandingany other provision <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Constitution</strong>, provide for-
