ENGINEERING INFORMATION BULLETIN (EIB).—The Engineering Information Bulletin ispublished biweekly and distributed to all naval ships and electronics installation and maintenanceactivities. It is authoritative and is a means of rapid dissemination of advanced hull, mechanical,electronic, electrical, and related equipment information. It includes information concerning approvedbeneficial suggestions, electronics field changes, mechanical alterations (MECHALTS), installationtechniques, maintenance notes and practices, and technical manual availabilities, advance change notices,and distribution.EQUIPMENT TECHNICAL MANUALS.—Technical manuals carry information essential to theproper operation, maintenance, and repair of specific equipment. These manuals may occasionally containerrors. In those cases, change notices are provided to correct the manuals. Updates because of equipmentchanges are also provided. These changes must be installed in the technical manuals to maintain accuracyand to prevent the loss of man-hours resulting from the use of obsolete data and/or schematics. TheGuide for User Maintenance of NAVSEA Technical Manuals, NAVSEA S005-AA-GYD-030/TMMP,provides information on identifying, ordering, deficiency reporting, and updating technical manuals.NAVSUP PUBLICATION 2002.—NAVSUP 2002 is the Navy Stock List of Publication andForms and provides NSNs for ordering Navy publications and their changes. Each edition is issuedquarterly and supersedes the previous one in its entirety. It is produced in microfiche only and containsthree sections:Section 1—FormsSection 2—PublicationsSection 3—NAVAIR Technical DirectivesDECKPLATE.—The deckplate is a technical periodical published monthly by NAVSEA. Itcontains information on design, construction, conversion, operation, maintenance, and repair of Navyvessels and their equipment. It also includes articles on personnel safety, service hints, and adoptedbeneficial suggestions.NAVAL SAFETY CENTER PUBLICATIONS.—The <strong>Naval</strong> Safety Center publishes bulletinsand several periodicals to keep Navy personnel informed on the subject of accident prevention.• Ship Safety Bulletin—This monthly newsletter contains safety notes and accident data.• Fathom—This quarterly magazine contains a review of surface ship and submarine accidentprevention and safety articles.• Approach—This magazine is a monthly review of articles concerning aviation safety andaccident prevention.• MECH—MECH is a bimonthly review of aviation maintenance related mishaps,material/personnel hazards, and general aviation ground safety.TRAINING MANUALS (TRAMANS).—Training manuals are designed to give enlisted personnelbackground knowledge for the proper performance of their assigned jobs. Electrical and electronic theoryand operation and maintenance information on pertinent equipment are presented at different rating levelsin the TRAMANs written for the technical rates.1-143
