By looking atlissajous patterns and using an octopus, you can compare the phase and frequency relationship of twosignals and check electronic components in a circuit.LISSAJOUS PATTERNS.—The simplest lissajous patterns are produced by two sine waves of thesame frequency and amplitude being applied to the horizontal and vertical deflection voltage inputs of anoscilloscope. Figure 1-37 shows patterns for several common phase relationships. These can be used toestimate the approximate phase angle of the two signals being studied.1-126
