Avrupakültür tarihinin Atina’da bittiğinive bu durumun yanlışlığını dilegetirmeyi hedeflediğini söyleyenUslu “Truva Avrupa kültürkimliğinin temel taşlarından biri.Fakat buradaki öğrencileriminçoğu Truva’nın Yunanistan’daolduğunu sanıyor. Batı’daki görüşTürkiye’nin kültürel mirası çokönemsemediği yönünde. AvrupaTruva’yı Avrupa kültürüne maletmeye çalışıyor. Dolayısıylaben Türkiye Truva ve Homerosilişkisini irdelemek istedimdoktora tezimde.” diyor. Sergininküratörlüğünü de yapan Uslusergide Çanakkale, İstanbul veÇorum Arkeoloji Müzeleri yanısıra yurtdışındaki koleksiyonlar dadâhil olmak üzere 300 parça eserolduğunu anlatıyor.Uslu’ya göre Avrupa, Truva’nınTürkiye ile ilişkisine epey uzak.Tam olarak nerede olduğununasıl bir tarihe tanıklık ettiğinibilen de az.Sergi pek çok açıdan bize de‘ilk’ler sunuyor. Mesela Romaİmparatoru Augustus’un,kökenlerini Truva’yadayandırdığını görüyoruz.Fatih Sultan Mehmet’in1462’de Truva’yı gezdiğini vegezi sırasında “Biz İstanbul’ufethederek Troya’nın öcünü aldık”dediğini öğreniyoruz.Serginin en önemli parçalarındanbiri, Schliemann’a verilen kazıiznini gösteren metin. Hemarkeoloji hem mitoloji hem dekültür tarihi objelerini bir arayagetiren sergide ayrıca Atatürk’ünTruva için verdiği kazı izinleri vemodern Türkiye’de Truva’nın nekadar önemli olduğunu gösterenbelgeler, metinler de yer alıyor.Avrupa’da açılan en zenginTruva sergisi olma özelliği olansergi için, İstanbul ArkeolojiMüzeleri’ndeki bazı eserler ilkdefa yurtdışına çıkarılıyor. AyrıcaÇanakkale Arkeoloji Müzesi’ndenyeni dönem kazılarından eserlerde yer alıyor.The Netherlands will become morefamiliar with Troy, thanks to theexhibition ‘Troy, City, Homer andTurkey’, which was inaugurated atthe Allard Pierson Museum and whichwas jointly organized by the Ministryof Culture and Tourism, Sezer TansuğArt Foundation, and the University ofAmsterdam. The exhibition, which is aconclusion to the celebrations marking400 years of relations between Turkeyand the Netherlands and which canbe visited until May 5, 2013, aims atintroducing not only Troy, but alsoTurkey, to the Netherlands.The exhibition is based on the PhDthesis of Günay Uslu, lecturer in theDepartment of History of EuropeanCulture at the University of Amsterdam.According to Uslu, the Europeanhistory of culture ends in Athensand this is a mistake: “Troy is one ofthe building blocks of the Europeancultural identity. However, most of mystudents here wrongly think that Troyis in Greece. In the West, it is thoughtthat Turkey does not appreciate thecultural heritage much. Europe is tryingto incorporate Troy into the Europeanculture. Thus, in my PhD thesis, I aimedat examining the relation between Troyand Homer.” Uslu, who is the curatorof the exhibition as well, says that theexhibition consists of 300 artifactsfrom the archaeological museums inÇanakkale, İstanbul, and Çorum, andfrom foreign collections.According to Uslu, Europe is in no wayfamiliar with the relation between Troyand Turkey. Many people wronglybelieve that Troy is in Greece. Thereare only few people who know itsexact location and the history it hadwitnessed.The exhibition offers many “firsts”, tous as well. For instance, we see thatRoman Emperor Augustus had tracedhis origins to Troy. We learn that SultanMehmed II (the Conqueror) had visitedTroy in 1462 and said, “By conqueringİstanbul we got the revenge for Troy”.One of the most important items ofthe exhibition is the excavation permitgiven to Schliemann. The exhibition,which gathers objects of archaeology,mythology and culture, includesexcavation permits for Troy given byAtatürk, and documents and textsindicating the importance of Troy inmodern Turkey.For the exhibition, which is therichest Troy exhibition inauguratedin Europe, some artifacts of theİstanbul Archaeological Museumswere brought out of Turkey for thefirst time. Additionally, some artifactsfrom the Çanakkale ArchaeologicalMuseum, unearthed during recentexcavations, are exhibited too.The Troy Museum is going toopenFrom 2013 on, the new excavationsat Troy will be carried out underSergi Allard Pierson Müzesi’nde 5 Mayıs 2013’e kadar görülebilir.
