What is happening in Gambella today is merely an
'overture' to what will be happening in the Lower Omo
Valley over the next year. The Ethiopian government has
shown no willingness to engage with constructive criticism
and advice from those who have a detailed knowledge of
the land and people of the Lower Omo and who are
long-standing friends of Ethiopia. A huge moral
responsibility therefore rests on Western donors (not least
my own government which gives more foreign aid to
Ethiopia than to any other country) to stand up for the
rights and welfare of thousands of vulnerable and politically
marginalised people in Gambella and the Lower Omo.

'genocide':

groups."
Why is the US government assisting a government bent on
"villagization"? Is that just an Orwellian term for genocide?
I wonder what Custer and Sitting Bull would have to say
about all this...
