Richmond, Australia Dear President Obama,
As a community organizer, you understood that the
younger generation is the locomotive of change. You
directly addressed and motivated so many young
generations and middle income communities to embrace a
new agenda you called ‘change we believe in’. By so doing
you galvanized millions of young Ethiopian-Americans to
enrol for change and preached for peace, justice and
democracy not only in America around the world to
“happen now or never”. I was so excited watching history
being made - your election, to the highest office in the
world, as the first black president. The overwhelming
majority of Ethiopians, including myself, in America and
around the world supported your election for all the things
you said and strongly stood for. Unfortunately, that
message has not been either delivered or received in
Ethiopia or Africa. We have patiently waited for your
promises of peace, justice and democracy to shine on
Ethiopia and beyond. Although, we absolutely empathize
with you for the enormity of the scrambled tasks you have
inherited to fix, both at home and around the world, we
could not sustain the conditions in Ethiopia any longer and
we have no alternative but to address the issues to you so
you can take any action you may think is necessary. Thank
you.
I think it's terrible to read what is happening to the people
of Gambella. They should be able to grow their own food
on their own land and not be forced into dependence on
foreign aid. This is the opposite of what aid should be
about.
558. Senaite Habte honolulu, HI Land grabbing, relocating and exposing natives to harsh
elements of nature is a form of genocide. History is
repeating itself-colonization in the form of land grabbing.
"Ethiopian land to Ethiopians not to Indians, Arabs,
Chinese, Europeans ....). Please stop supporting Melese
zenawi and his inhumane actions.
