Aid and development must be designed to benefit the local
people!!! Not aid in the development of large profits abroad
or for wealthy land owners. Trickle-down economics is a
sham; it's propaganda to push through crony capitalism
and neoliberal ideology.
213. Michael Gasser Bloomington, IN As a former Peace Corps volunteer in Ethiopia who
recently returned briefly to teach a short course at Addis
Ababa University, I have a little insight into what is good for
Ethiopia. These large-scale agricultural projects are not
what Ethiopia needs. They will perhaps benefit the small
middle class but can only disrupt the lives of ordinary
Ethiopians.
214. norbert powell cin, OH Mr. President,
Allowing continued exploitation of the African continent is
not acceptable. If only a forum of trade between the african
people and the american small companies could be
established, then a true benefit to both peoples could be
realized. My experience along with attempts to do so
makes me confident of this end. Huge conglomerate
pirates will continue to take and destroy. While I know your
plate is overloaded, I trust you will look deeper into this
matter.
