million dollars in funding <strong>for</strong> projects at the local, state, or multi-state levels. <strong>The</strong>se projectsfeatured outreach ef<strong>for</strong>ts <strong>and</strong> innovative programming to schools, youth <strong>and</strong> communityorganizations, business entities, <strong>and</strong> various parent groups. <strong>The</strong>se programs providedcomprehensive training, curricula <strong>and</strong> online educational programming about online safety <strong>for</strong>children. <strong>The</strong> focus of OJJDP’s Project Safe <strong>Child</strong>hood public education <strong>and</strong> communityawareness program is prevention: public education <strong>and</strong> awareness about the online sexualexploitation of children helps to prevent the victimization of children through technologyfacilitatedmeans.• <strong>The</strong> national media campaign was designed as a bilingual campaign (in English <strong>and</strong> Spanish)<strong>and</strong> featured four public service announcements, a three-part Webisode, Web banners, radioads, movie theater ads <strong>and</strong> print materials. <strong>The</strong>se materials are being used by appropriate lawen<strong>for</strong>cement <strong>and</strong> advocacy groups to educate the public about the technology-facilitatedvictimization of children <strong>and</strong> about the importance of online safety.• <strong>The</strong> PSAs titled “Know Where <strong>The</strong>y Go” <strong>and</strong> “No Lo Harias” are a call to action to parents<strong>and</strong> ask them to learn about online safety <strong>and</strong> to supervise their children’s online activities.<strong>The</strong> PSAs titled “Decisions” <strong>and</strong> “No Arruines Tu Vida” target potential <strong>and</strong> low-levelonline predators, in<strong>for</strong>ming them that downloading child pornography or enticing minorsonline are serious federal crimes with lifelong consequences <strong>and</strong> legal ramifications.Audience-specific websites were created to provide additional in<strong>for</strong>mation.• <strong>The</strong> PSC media campaign featured a national media launch, regional media events in fourcities, <strong>and</strong> large scale public awareness events about Internet safety in designated markets.<strong>The</strong>se events were supported by television, radio, online <strong>and</strong> movie theater placement ofPSAs in these regions.• <strong>The</strong> Department supported local events with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices across the nationutilizing materials developed under the Project Safe <strong>Child</strong>hood initiative.• Under PSC, the number of federal child exploitation prosecutions has increased significantly,along with the number of federal, state, <strong>and</strong> local investigations <strong>and</strong> convictions, <strong>and</strong> morevictims are being identified.d. ICACsAs discussed in depth above, the 61 ICAC Task Forces are funded <strong>and</strong> coordinated through theDepartment’s OJP. <strong>The</strong>se Task Forces are designed <strong>and</strong> have proven successful incollaboratively working with federal, state, <strong>and</strong> local offices.2. FBI’s Law En<strong>for</strong>cement Coordination Ef<strong>for</strong>tsAs noted above, the FBI is engaged in many task <strong>for</strong>ces <strong>and</strong> initiatives, including their InnocentImages <strong>National</strong> Initiative, the Innocence Lost <strong>National</strong> Initiative, <strong>and</strong> the Innocent ImagesInternational Task Force. All of these initiatives involve agents <strong>and</strong> investigators from all levelsof the government.<strong>The</strong> FBI has also stepped up its ef<strong>for</strong>ts to disrupt human trafficking operations worldwide <strong>and</strong> tofree these organization’s victims. <strong>The</strong> FBI works with other local, state, <strong>and</strong> federal lawen<strong>for</strong>cement agencies <strong>and</strong> national victim-based advocacy groups in joint task <strong>for</strong>ces that99
