Available surfaces: SLActive and SLA ®<br />

straumann implants are manufactured from pure biocompatible titanium. all of <strong>the</strong><br />

implants are available with <strong>the</strong> sLactive und sLa ® surface. Both surfaces have <strong>the</strong><br />

same scientifically documented micro- and macro topography. compared to sLa ® ,<br />

sLactive exibits an additi<strong>on</strong>al chemical activity as well as hydrophilic qualities.<br />

c<strong>on</strong>sequently, healing time is reduced from 6 – 8 weeks to 3 – 4 weeks*.<br />

if <strong>the</strong> implants are inserted up to <strong>the</strong> margin of <strong>the</strong> sLactive/sLa ® surface, <strong>the</strong> smooth<br />

1.8 mm and 2.8 mm neck secti<strong>on</strong>s take <strong>the</strong> biological width into c<strong>on</strong>siderati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

<strong>the</strong> standard Plus implant with an endosteal diameter of 3.3 mm and shoulder<br />

diameter of 3.5 mm (narrow neck) has a special feature. in order to achieve optimal<br />

stability, this implant type has an external octag<strong>on</strong>.<br />

The selecti<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> suitable implant type, diameter and length must be<br />

made according to each case. In general, <strong>the</strong> dimensi<strong>on</strong>s of <strong>the</strong> tooth being<br />

replaced and/or <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tralateral tooth should be used as a guide.<br />
