Correct fit of <strong>the</strong> Tapered Effect implant in <strong>the</strong> b<strong>on</strong>e<br />

in <strong>the</strong> final positi<strong>on</strong>, <strong>the</strong> cylindrical/apical part of <strong>the</strong> implant ensures primary stability.<br />

<strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>ical part of <strong>the</strong> implant lies next to <strong>the</strong> b<strong>on</strong>e. correcti<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> vertical<br />

positi<strong>on</strong> by reverse rotati<strong>on</strong> (counter-clockwise) should be avoided. this can lead to a<br />

reducti<strong>on</strong> in primary stability.<br />

Particular features with <strong>the</strong> Tapered Effect implant<br />

p <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>ical regi<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> implant bed must be shaped with a special tapered<br />

effect profile drill.<br />

p in order to avoid any resorpti<strong>on</strong> due to pressure <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> b<strong>on</strong>e, tapered effect<br />

implants should not fill <strong>the</strong> alveolus completely. (hDD). <strong>the</strong>ir primary stability is<br />

achieved with <strong>the</strong> cylindrical part of <strong>the</strong> implant.<br />

p in most cases, central drilling does not follow <strong>the</strong> axis of <strong>the</strong> alveolus exactly. it has<br />

to be shifted slightly in <strong>the</strong> palatal or lingual directi<strong>on</strong> in order to obtain a correct<br />

implant positi<strong>on</strong>.<br />

in general, <strong>the</strong> implant positi<strong>on</strong> should not be chosen <strong>on</strong>ly <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> basis of <strong>the</strong><br />

available b<strong>on</strong>e. ra<strong>the</strong>r, <strong>the</strong> desired pros<strong>the</strong>tic result should act as <strong>the</strong> basis for <strong>the</strong><br />

decisi<strong>on</strong>, even if this necessitates b<strong>on</strong>e augmentati<strong>on</strong> measures*.<br />

* This technique should be employed <strong>on</strong>ly by dentists who have adequate experience in <strong>the</strong><br />

use of augmentati<strong>on</strong> procedures.<br />
