p Multi-use profile drill: <strong>the</strong>re are two types of profile drills in <strong>the</strong><br />
straumann ® Dental implant system:<br />
p standard Plus profile drill (max. 400 rpm):<br />
p<br />
Because of <strong>the</strong> short neck secti<strong>on</strong> in implants in <strong>the</strong> standard Plus Line (1.8 mm),<br />
part of <strong>the</strong> flared neck c<strong>on</strong>figurati<strong>on</strong> is inserted in <strong>the</strong> b<strong>on</strong>e. <strong>the</strong>re is a special<br />
profile drill (max. 400 rpm) for <strong>the</strong> flared preparati<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> implant bed<br />
(analogous to <strong>the</strong> neck c<strong>on</strong>figurati<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> standard Plus implants).<br />
Tip<br />
In order to make it easier to insert <strong>the</strong> drill with <strong>the</strong> next diameter into <strong>the</strong> b<strong>on</strong>e<br />
cavity, <strong>the</strong> margin of <strong>the</strong> implant bed can be bevelled slightly. To do so, <strong>the</strong><br />
corresp<strong>on</strong>ding profile drill is inserted into <strong>the</strong> drill hole. The diameter of<br />
this “auxiliary“ drill corresp<strong>on</strong>ds to that of <strong>the</strong> last pilot or twist drill employed.<br />
tapered effect profile drill (max. 300 rpm):<br />
<strong>the</strong>se widen <strong>the</strong> implant bed for <strong>the</strong> upper c<strong>on</strong>ical part of <strong>the</strong> te implants<br />
(see also page 37).<br />
