Vertical implant positi<strong>on</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> implant can opti<strong>on</strong>ally be submerged<br />

in <strong>the</strong> b<strong>on</strong>e as far as <strong>the</strong> margin of<br />

<strong>the</strong> sLactive/sLa ® surface (a) or, for<br />

es<strong>the</strong>tic reas<strong>on</strong>s, as far as <strong>the</strong> level of<br />

<strong>the</strong> implant shoulder (B). <strong>the</strong> vertical<br />

positi<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> implant shoulder must be<br />

borne in mind when preparing <strong>the</strong><br />

implant bed.<br />

<strong>the</strong> following rule applies for <strong>the</strong> depth<br />

of inserti<strong>on</strong> to implant shoulder level (B):<br />

SLActive/SLA ® surface + 2 mm =<br />

depth of preparati<strong>on</strong><br />

in <strong>the</strong> es<strong>the</strong>tic area <strong>the</strong> implant shoulder<br />

should be approx. 1– 2 mm apical to<br />

<strong>the</strong> enamel-cementum juncti<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong><br />

c<strong>on</strong>tralateral tooth.<br />

Dental gaps in <strong>the</strong> anterior regi<strong>on</strong><br />

in <strong>the</strong> anterior area, a deeper vertical<br />

implant positi<strong>on</strong> is better for es<strong>the</strong>tic<br />

reas<strong>on</strong>s. in this situati<strong>on</strong>, use of<br />

standard Plus implants which have a<br />

shorter smooth neck secti<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong><br />

implant neck (1.8 mm) compared with<br />

<strong>the</strong> standard implants (2.8 mm) is<br />

recommended.<br />

Oro-facial b<strong>on</strong>e supply<br />

important: <strong>the</strong> oro-facial layer of b<strong>on</strong>e<br />

around <strong>the</strong> implant must be at least<br />

1 mm thick in order to ensure stable<br />

hard and soft tissue c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s.<br />
