Note on implant position planning
Mesio-distal implant position
the implant diameter, implant type,
position and number of implants should
be selected individually taking the
anatomy and spatial circumstances into
account. the dimensions given here
should be regarded as minimum
guidelines. only when the minimum
distances (see illustration) are observed
is it possible to design the restoration
so that the necessary oral hygiene
measures can be carried out in the
region of the implant neck.

Implant distance between
adjacent teeth
1. as a first step, the distance between
two teeth can be determined by the
width of the gap. Depending on the
tooth shape, the width of the gap is
about 1 mm (2x 0.5 mm) less than the
distance at bone level.
2. mesio-distally there should be a
distance of 1.5 – 2 mm from the imp-
lant shoulder to the adjacent tooth at
bone level.
3. the minimum gap width for the
various implant types can be derived
according to this basic rule.
