Importantly, these ideas span from birth todeath and are not bracketed by typical ‘elder’ timelines.The studio worked acrossall life stages to develop anarchitecture of solutions thatfocuses on strengthening intergenerationalrelationships.They are presented here in a highly abbreviated <strong>for</strong>mat:— Grey Gold: The elderly have massive investment and purchasingpower; how might it be put to use to strengthenintergenerational ties and boost the economy?— Eliminate <strong>for</strong>mal retirement age: Allow individuals tochoose when and at what rate they step out of working life.— Develop a new social contract through a nation-wide cocreationevent.— Create an interdepartmental minister of Ageing & Volunteerism.— Establish a National Wisdom Bank to enable in<strong>for</strong>malknowledge transfer.— Welfare to Co-care: Registered Nurses, advanced ICT, andother means to enable less rigid care structures that focus onactive engagement.— Mandate that co-creation be at the heart of new servicedevelopment.— Emphasize the importance of lifetime exercise.— Honour Volunteering: To expand volunteerism in Finland,put it in the spotlight.— Consider transitioning away from a traditional pensionsystem towards a 40-year trust to encourage life-stage flexibility.
