This includes the Studio Model, as well as theHDL Global event and website. In his spare time Bryansearches <strong>for</strong> innovative uses of walnuts, a fascination thatstems from growing up on a walnut farm in Cali<strong>for</strong>nia. PreviouslyBryan has worked as an independent architect, softwareprogrammer, and technology entrepreneur. He received hisBFA with Honors from the Rhode Island School of <strong>Design</strong>,and his M.Arch from the Harvard Graduate School of<strong>Design</strong>.Justin W. CookAs Sitra’s Sustainable <strong>Design</strong> Lead, Justin is working atthe intersection of climate change and the built environment.He led content development <strong>for</strong> the Low2No competition andis focusing on Low2No as a development model that aimsto balance economy, ecology and society through strategicinvestments and interventions in existing cities. He haspreviously worked in the Renzo Piano Building Workshop inGenova, Italy; as a design researcher on the Harvard StrokePathways project; and was the principal of a design-buildfirm in Seattle. Justin received his BA from the Universityof Washington and his M.Arch from the Harvard GraduateSchool of <strong>Design</strong>.Marco SteinbergMarco directs Sitra’s internal strategic design ef<strong>for</strong>ts,charting new <strong>for</strong>ward-oriented opportunities to help Sitrameet its mission of enhancing Finland’s national innovationability and well being. In addition to <strong>Helsinki</strong> <strong>Design</strong> <strong>Lab</strong>he is responsible <strong>for</strong> the concept and design-development ofLow2No, a transitional strategy to create sustainable urbandevelopment models in Finland through the implementationof a large scale development project in downtown <strong>Helsinki</strong>.His previously experiences include: Professor at theHarvard <strong>Design</strong> School (1999-2009); advising governmentson SME & design funding strategies; and running his owndesign & architecture practice. He received his BFA andBArch from Rhode Island School of <strong>Design</strong> and his MArchwith Distinction from the Harvard <strong>Design</strong> School.
