26 Infinitely variable gear<strong>The</strong> main components <strong>of</strong> this infinitely variable gearare two shafts linked by a chain which is guided by twobevelled drive disks at each <strong>of</strong> the shafts. By varyingthe distance between the bevelled drive disks the runningcircle <strong>of</strong> the chain increases or decreases, providingan infinitely variable transmission ratio.<strong>Bearing</strong> selection<strong>The</strong> two variator shafts are each supported by twodeep groove ball bearings FAG 6306.<strong>The</strong> driving torque is transmitted by sleeve M via ballsto the bevelled disk hub H. <strong>The</strong> ball contact surfaces <strong>of</strong>coupling K are wedge-shaped.
