It provides a dense, impervious, coloured and chemically resistant floor surfacewhich is hygienic and easy to clean. Typical applicationsinclude hospital clean rooms, laboratories, food processingplants, film studio floors, prisons, supermarkets and lightindustrial plants.ADVANTAGES• Excellent water staining resistance• Applied from 2 - 4 mm thickness• High flow characteristics combined with an attractiveself smoothing finish• Fast application - minimises downtime• Chemically resistant - good resistance to a wide rangeof chemicals• Durable - good abrasion resistance• Hygienic - provides a dense, impervious, seamless floorsurface which is easily cleaned• Attractive - available in a wide range of colours toenhance the working environmentDESCRIPTIONDurafloor SLX is a self smoothing, solvent free epoxyscreed. It is supplied supplied pre-measured, multicomponentsystem ready for on-site mixing. When laid, it provides a smooth, durable surface. It isavailable in a wide range of standard colours, and ifrequired, can be overcoated with Durafloor HP to provideanti-slip finishes.TECHNICAL SUPPORTParchem offers a technical support package to specifiers,end-users and contractors, as well as on-site technicalassistance.DESIGN CRITERIADurafloor SLX is designed for application at a nominalthickness of 2 - 4 mm. Thickness will generally depend onthe impact resistance requirements of the finished floor -thicker floor being capable of withstanding greater impact.Substrates should be dry and not suffer, or be likely tosuffer, from rising damp. Substrates should not have arelative humidity greater than 75% at the time ofinstallation (refer to Limitations section).PROPERTIESThe values given below are typical figures achieved inlaboratory tests at 23°C. Actual values obtained on-site mayshow minor variations from those quoted.PHYSICAL PROPERTIESCompressive strength:Cure time -foot traffic:vehicular traffic:chemical:60 MPa24 hours48 hours7 daysPARCHEM CONCRETE REPAIR FLOORING JOINTING SYSTEMS WATERPROOFINGTECHNICAL DATA SHEET DECEMBER 09www.parchem.com.au 7 Lucca Road, Wyong NSW 2259 Sales 1800 801 108 Technical 1800 812 864 ABN 80 069 961 968 1

Durafloor SLXCHEMICAL RESISTANCEDurafloor SLX has excellent resistance at ambienttemperatures to a wide range of industrial chemicals.Note: It is very important that all chemical spills are cleanedup immediately. Leaving chemical spills on the floor mayresult in higher concentrations of chemicals pooling, causing damage to the durafloor SLX.MAINTENANCEThe service life of a floor can be considerably extended bygood housekeeping. Regular cleaning may be carried outusing a rotary scrubbing machine with a water misciblecleaning agent at temperatures up to 50°C (refer toParchem’s “Guide to Industrial Floor Maintenance”). Insome applications where long term appearance of the flooris important, clear sealers / polishes may be necessary toprotect the epoxy and provide a renewable top coat.Consult Parchem for further advice in these circumstances.APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSPREPARATIONDurafloor SLX should be applied by specialist contractorsrecognised by Parchem who have been trained in thecorrect installation procedures. The following steps areinvolved in the application.- Thoroughly prepare the floor surface. Correct surfacepreparation helps to achieve the necessary adhesivebond between the substrate and the new floor.Mechanically scarifying or captive blasting is the normalsuggested method- All existing expansion or movement joints should befollowed through the new floor surfaceREPAIRFaults / defects in the base concrete floor will reflectthrough the Durafloor SLX so it is important to “makegood” the concrete before application of the Durafloor SLX.These repair are generally carried out using Nitomortar 903and fillers or a suitable epoxy fairing mortarMIXING1. Scrape entire contents of the 1.0 kg colour pack (or 2 x500 g colour packs) into the base component (only useDurafloor Colour Packs).2. Add the entire contents of the hardener to the base andcolour pack mixture and mix for 1 minute using a slowspeed mixer fitted with a large spiral type mixingattachment.3. After 1 minute mixing, slowly add one bag of theDurafloor SLX fillers.4. Continue mixing entire mix for a minimum of 3 minutesat 350 - 500 rpm once all components have been added.Note: Mix in an efficient manner to ensure no colourpigment streaking is visible and scrape the side walls of themixing vessel with a long bladed spatula to dislodge anyunmixed material.PLACING- Apply the Durafloor SLX topping. The material is pouredon to the primed surface and spread with a steel trowelto achieve a 2 - 4 mm seamless topping- Using a spiked roller, remove air entrainment and allowto cure- Install the most appropriate Parchem joint sealant. Thiswill depend on the anticipated movement accommodationfactor and the end use of the new floor. For furtheradvice, consult your local Parchem sales officeInstallation times will vary according to site conditions andthe size of the area involved. If a slip-resistant finish is required this can be achieved byapplication of Durafloor HP incorporating suitable anti-slipaggregates. Refer to the Durafloor HP Technical Data Sheet.CLEANINGDurafloor SLX and associated primer should be removedfrom tools and equipment with Solvent 10 immediatelyafter use. Hardened material can only be removedmechanically.PRIMING- Apply 1 - 2 coats of Nitomortar 903 and allow to cure.Touch dry between prime coats and 12 - 24 hours priorto the application of Durafloor SLX- Efficient sealing of the concrete surface is essential tominimise surface defects in the final finish2

Durafloor SLXLIMITATIONSDurafloor SLX should not be applied on to surfaces knownto or likely to suffer from rising damp conditions or have arelative humidity greater than 75%. Suspect concrete floorshould be checked using a Hygometer to check the moisturelevel before proceeding.Durafloor SLX is not a 'floor levelling' product and willfollow the contours of the sub-floor. If the floor requireslevelling, consult your local Parchem sales office for furtheradvice. In certain conditions a light oily film may appear on thesurface of the floor during curing. Where overcoating is tooccur, remove this film by solvent wiping or cleaning witha recognised reactivating solution. This film can also beremoved once the Durafloor SLX is fully cure by cleaningthe surface with a mild detergent in water.Durafloor SLX does not produce a 'mirror finish'. Someimperfections in the finish are always present. DurafloorSLX is not resistant to scratching and marking frommechanical damage and abrasion.Durafloor SLX is designed as a rapid installation, seamlessfloor. Some floor areas, especially the darker colouredDurafloor SLX, may show slight ‘dimpling’. This is commonand should be expected. It has no effect on the end flooringproject being seamless and hygienic. In areas where significant thermal shock is likely to occur, consult your local Parchem sales office.Durafloor SLX should not be applied to asphalt, weak orfriable concrete, unmodified sand cement screeds, PVCtiles or sheet or substrates known to move substantiallye.g. steel walkways. For information on other substrates, consult your local Parchem sales office.Durafloor SLX should be applied only when the substratetemperature and the ambient temperature is above 10 o C.Durafloor SLX is not UV stable - discolouration may occureven in internal environments including exposure throughwindows.ESTIMATINGSUPPLYDurafloor SLX is supplied in packs containing pre-weighedcomponents consisting of base, hardener, colour pack andfillers which, when combined produce 16 litres of mixedproduct.Nitomortar 903:Solvent 10:COVERAGEDurafloor SLX:Nitomortar 903:6 and 30 litre packs4 and 20 litre drums16 litre pack (8 m 2 @ 2 mmthickness / 4 m 2 @ 4 mmthickness)5 m 2 /litreThe coverage figures given are theoretical - due to wastagefactors and the variety and nature of possible substrates, practical coverage figures will be reduced. Typically, anadditional 10% should be allowed for surface irregularitiesand wastage although this will vary with site conditions.SPECIFICATION CLAUSEFLOW-APPLIED EPOXY FLOOR TOPPINGSThe designated floor areas shall be surfaced with DurafloorSLX, a 2-4 mm thick flow applied epoxy resin floor topping. The topping shall achieve a compressive strength of 60MPa at 7 days. At 23 o C, it shall be capable of accepting foottraffic at 24 hours and vehicular traffic at 48 hours.STORAGESHELF LIFEAll products have a shelf life of 36 months if kept in a drystore in the original, unopened packs.STORAGE CONDITIONSStore in dry conditions between 5°C and 30°C, away fromsources of heat and naked flames, in the original, unopenedpacks.
